Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Residential Group Home Manager to oversee the daily operations of a licensed group home serving individuals with developmental disabilities in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The ideal candidate must have strong experience in residential/group home operations and be knowledgeable of Virginia DBHDS regulations, Human Rights requirements, HCBS requirements, and person-centered services . Key Responsibilities Manage the overall day-to-day operations of the group home. Develop and maintain DSP staff schedules and ensure adequate staffing coverage for all shifts. Recruit, interview, onboard, and assist with training new employees. Handle staff call-outs and arrange appropriate coverage. Supervise DSPs and ensure staff follow company policies, individual ISPs, support plans, and safety protocols. Ensure the home remains compliant with applicable DBHDS regulations, Human Rights requirements, HCBS standards, and agency policies and procedures . Monitor staff documentation, progress notes, MARs, shift records, incident reports, and other required documentation. Ensure medications and medication documentation are properly maintained according to agency policy and applicable requirements. Monitor individual appointments, medical follow-ups, transportation, activities, and daily care needs. Ensure incidents and concerns are immediately reported and properly documented according to agency procedures and applicable reporting requirements. Maintain organized individual and staff records and ensure required documentation is current. Conduct staff meetings, coaching, training, and performance follow-up as needed. Monitor the cleanliness, safety, organization, food supplies, and overall condition of the residence. Communicate professionally with management, families/guardians, Support Coordinators, nurses, behavioral professionals, and other members of the individual's support team. Assist with inspections, audits, licensing reviews, corrective action follow-up, and other compliance activities. Be available to respond to urgent staffing or operational issues when necessary. Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized care plans tailored to each resident's needs and preferences Qualifications Previous Group Home Manager, Residential Manager, House Manager, Program Manager, or similar supervisory experience strongly preferred. Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD/DD). Knowledge of Virginia DBHDS rules and regulations strongly preferred. Knowledge of Human Rights, HCBS, ISP implementation, incident reporting, medication documentation, and residential compliance. Strong experience with staff scheduling and employee supervision. Ability to recruit, train, coach, and manage DSP staff. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Must be dependable, professional, and able to manage a residential program with minimal supervision. Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license. Must be able to successfully complete required background checks and employment requirements. Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who understands that this position is more than supervising a house. The Residential Group Home Manager will be responsible for ensuring the home is properly staffed, organized, safe, compliant, and operating effectively every day. Candidates with previous experience managing a Virginia DBHDS-licensed DD group home are strongly encouraged to apply.
