To provide direct nursing and mental health care to non-hospitalized adults 18 and up in a residential setting experiencing an acute crisis of a psychiatric nature that may jeopardize their current community living situation. The goals are to avert hospitalization or re-hospitalization; provide normative environments with a high assurance of safety and security for crisis intervention; stabilize individuals in psychiatric crisis; and mobilize the resources of the community support system, family members and others for ongoing maintenance, rehabilitation and recovery. Services are primarily provided via face-to-face involvement with the client and family members within the home, although they may occur in various community settings.
Position Summary:
As part of a multi-disciplinary, core services team, the Nurse House Manager provides nursing assessment, direct-support services, and primary health care to individuals admitted to a 7-bed Residential Crisis Stabilization Unit (RCSU). Creates and maintains a wellness and recovery-oriented environment by using person-first language, respectful documentation, person-centered planning, and evidence-based practices. In addition to clinical nursing responsibilities, this position oversees daily house operations, staff scheduling, and client care coordination.
Work Schedule:
Full-time, flexible hours to meet program needs. 24-hour on-call coverage on a rotating schedule.

Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Nursing Duties:
Conduct frequent monitoring and assessment of the mental and physical health status of persons served. Participate in the development of nursing assessments, comprehensive assessments, and individualized recovery plans. Provide and monitor mental and physical health education, community living skill training, and supportive counseling, with a focus on psychiatric medications, side effects, and physical health care. Deliver crisis intervention services for persons with acute psychiatric needs requiring rapid intervention. Perform symptom assessment and management, medication monitoring, medication education, and monitoring of side effects. Administer prescribed medications and injections; draw blood and prepare laboratory specimens for delivery, if certified to do so. Maintain accurate records of all medications administered in the Medication Record. Assist clients with medication management. Conduct outreach to new direct service recipients and encourage reluctant persons to accept services through interventions with person served and/or family members. Provide technical assistance and education to team members in the area of psychiatric nursing and physical health care. Prepare and present a medication education curriculum to non-medical staff on an ongoing basis. Exercise sound judgment and assume responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on people, costs, and/or quality of service.
House Management & Operational Duties:
Develop and maintain the staff schedule. Create balanced and nutritious meal plans and maintain inventory in the home. Assist with maintaining the crisis home via the management of its physical environment. Actively participate in the client intake process and follow the crisis program curriculum. Engage in the ongoing assessment of client treatment needs for person-centered treatment planning. Provide sight and sound supervision of clients served at all times to maintain a safe and secure environment. Actively coordinate case management, discharge, and aftercare planning with referral agencies. Assist in the development, ongoing monitoring, and implementation of Individual Service Plans. Assist with following the day/evening crisis intervention program schedule. Complete psychoeducation interventions to assist clients with gaining skills to reduce and manage presenting behaviors. Work with clients to foster development of skills such as daily living skills, coping skills, problem solving, communication skills, and healthy relationship skills. Engage in care coordination and discharge planning to connect clients with resources for ongoing recovery and management. Complete shift communication logs, morning and evening worksheets, and other forms for program efficiency. Maintain up-to-date client records and prepare required reports in a timely and accurate manner, including individualized service plans, daily progress notes, and discharge summaries. Provide and/or deliver various process, psychoeducation, and education groups. Establish a good working relationship with other public and private agencies and interface collaboratively with them. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must hold a current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Minimum of 2 years of paid post-licensure nursing experience required; 1 year of psychiatric nursing required. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Docs. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
Compensation:
$70,000-$80,000 annually, depending on experience Two weeks paid vacation
Pay:
$70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
