What they do
A Property Manager manages operations for an apartment building or complex. Recruits and screens tenants for apartments, collects rents and security deposits, responds to requests or complaints from tenants, supervises maintenance and repairs; oversees payment of bills, insurance, taxes and recordkeeping. Manages property and services on behalf of a community association, for properties such as condominiums or cooperatives. Collects fees or dues, responds to requests or complaints, supervises maintenance, oversees work done by contractors, and provides accounting of income and expenses. May also assist owners or a board of directors with regulatory compliance or compliance with community association rules. Manages the operation of commercial or residential properties. Oversees the collection of rents and payment of bills, taxes and insurance for properties, and provides property owners with reports on finances and the status of properties. Directs leasing operations, or equipment and machinery rentals, for a company or business. Determines charges and prepares rental or lease agreements; supervises inventory, equipment maintenance and recordkeeping for leasing operations.

Job Description
Key responsibilities include:
- Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with property owners, residents, vendors, and prospective tenants
- Conduct property showings and communicate with prospective residents throughout the leasing process
- Perform property inspections and interior surveys
- Maintain consistent and proactive communication with property owners regarding their properties
- Coordinate and oversee property turnovers, including scheduling and follow-up with vendors and internal staff
- Work closely with the Maintenance Department to coordinate and monitor work orders
- Complete move-in lease transactions and move-out security deposit accounting and reports
- Prepare and complete weekly and monthly reports accurately and on time
- Address resident concerns and lease compliance issues professionally and in accordance with applicable requirements and company procedures
- Assist with the legal process involving non-compliant residents, following applicable court orders, legal counsel, and company direction
- Maintain accurate property records, documentation, and communication
- Cross-train with other departments and assist team members as needed What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is an experienced property management professional who can work independently, stay organized in a fast-paced environment, and provide outstanding customer service.
Qualifications and skills include:
- Prior property management or assistant property management experience
- Strong understanding of residential leasing, property management practices, and applicable legal requirements
- Experience managing single-family homes and/or multifamily properties preferred
- Strong computer skills, including Google Workspace, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- AppFolio Property Manager experience preferred
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with people at all levels
- Exceptional organization and time-management skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Ability to remain professional and solution-oriented when handling difficult or sensitive situations
