Job Description

Make a Difference Every Day Executive Director of Residential Services Burlington United Methodist Family Services (BUMFS) is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and mission-driven Executive Director of Residential Services to provide leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for our residential treatment programs. Your leadership will directly impact the quality of services, staff development, program excellence, and positive outcomes for vulnerable children and families. What You'll Do You'll serve as a key leader responsible for ensuring exceptional care, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance across residential services. Leadership & Program Oversight Provide overall leadership and management of assigned residential campus operations Ensure compliance with state licensing, accreditation, Medicaid, and regulatory requirements Lead and support residential staff to promote excellence in service delivery Participate as a member of Burlington's Management Team and advisory committees Monitor program quality and implement continuous improvement initiatives Respond to emergency situations and provide leadership support as needed Operations & Financial Management Assist in developing and monitoring departmental budgets Implement action plans to address budget variances Ensure Medicaid-compliant billing and documentation requirements are met Oversee campus facilities and grounds to maintain safety and compliance standards Identify and address operational and regulatory risks Staff Development & Supervision Recruit, develop, and retain qualified residential personnel Ensure staff receive required orientation, training, and professional development Foster accountability, teamwork, and a culture of excellence Provide supervision and leadership to residential management and direct care teams Community & Organizational Engagement Build strong relationships with community partners, agencies, churches, and stakeholders Support fundraising, public relations, and donor engagement efforts Promote collaborative partnerships that strengthen services and advocacy efforts Represent Burlington professionally within the community What You Bring A passion for serving youth and families combined with strong leadership and operational expertise. Core Skills & Strengths Exceptional leadership and team-building abilities Strong managerial and supervisory experience Ability to inspire staff while maintaining accountability Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities Ability to remain calm and effective during crisis situations Knowledge of residential treatment, social work practices, and behavioral health services Commitment to quality care, compliance, and organizational excellence What the Job Requires Education & Experience Bachelor's degree required Master's degree in Social Work, Human Services, or related field preferred Minimum of ten years of relevant leadership and residential services experience preferred Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and complex programs Additional Requirements Valid driver's license required Ability to obtain and maintain a food handler's card Completion of all required agency training Availability to respond to emergencies as needed Ability to serve as a positive role model for youth and staff Physical & Environmental Requirements This role includes both office and campus-based responsibilities: Frequent movement throughout residential facilities and campus grounds Regular use of communication and documentation systems Ability to travel as needed Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds Ability to participate in crisis intervention and required safety training Ability to remain alert and responsive in emergency situations Our Culture & Values We are more than a workplace—we are a mission-driven community grounded in: Collaboration & Teamwork Working together to solve challenges and strengthen outcomes.
