Job Summary The Head Start Director combines the dynamic roles of strategic planning, operational planning, leadership and follow-through. The Director of Head Start is chiefly responsible for supporting the partner programs to achieve full implementation of all aspects of the Head Start program's education, family engagement and health, and monitoring, systems and analysis approach. This approach is developed and supported by Childcare Resources with the goal of providing high quality education services and executing two-generation strategies to support families of young children to build nurturing environments to promote their children's school readiness and healthy development. The Head Start Director is key to ensuring a successful partnership that is committed to assuring compliance with Head Start Performance Standards (HSPS) and full implementation of Childcare Resources' program model. Primary Responsibilities:
The leader of Childcare Resources' Head Start team, and is responsible for assuring that all Childcare Resources Head Start staff receive the on-going coaching and supervisory support and professional development in order to fully execute their positions Supervises and delivers monthly coaching to the Director of Family Services and Health, Early Learning & Inclusion Specialist, and other leadership staff as identified. Those leaders supervise additional positions The Head Start Director assures that team members are working collaboratively with one another and with community partners to ensure full enrollment, up to date adherence of children with EPSDT requirements, medical and dental homes and insurance, timely follow up and support for children with (identified or suspected) special needs, and support for family goal partnerships and well-being Establishes the working relationships with staff to promote program wide commitment and execution of strategies that engage families as full partners in their children's development and school readiness (through Shine on, Families oversight and execution) Assures that systems for monitoring, self-assessment and program management are fully executed to assure program's ongoing quality improvement Effectively communicates data-driven programmatic insights and coordinates with Service Area leads to provide necessary data for SASCIE, Childcare Resources' self-assessment system. Consistently contributes to the Childcare Resources' professional excellence through productive leadership and participation in: o Grantee planning and leadership o (company name) network leadership and collaboration o External community relationships (LEAs, CBOs, higher education, NHSA, state agencies, policymakers, etc.) Ensures fiscal management by monitoring expenditures Ensures compliance of state/local licensing and QRIS - Alabama Quality Stars Ensures the creation and implementation of partnership agreements with local and state entities Participates in assigned meetings, events and training as required Be present at work in order to provide consistency of services Be a contributory team member in a positive/productive manner Demonstrate commitment to mission, values, and policies in the performance of daily duties 15. Follow agency procedures to assure reporting of suspected child abuse and/or neglect 16. Follow agency procedures in reporting any suspected licensing deficiencies observed at child care programs 17. React productively to change and handle all other work-related responsibilities as assigned

Communication and Service Coordination:
Participate in team and 1-1 meetings, regularly scheduled and as needed, to ensure coordination of education services across the Head Start program Communicate effectively in written or verbal format to groups of all sizes and individuals Actively participate in the Head Start community, including staff meetings, mandated training, committee meetings, and other program-wide functions as needed, including some evening activities
Program Governance and Leadership:
Lead for the good of the entire organization, understand the big picture and use it as a framework to make decisions Make decisions that support program quality and maintain program accountability Work with the Executive Director to develop and maintain focus for the education service area, align education goals with the strategic direction and needs of the program, and ensure that all education staff understands how their work relates to the program as a whole and the relevant regulations and Performance Standards Improve quality and effectiveness of the education service area and overall organization by initiating, sponsoring and implementing organizational change and by helping others to successfully manage organizational change Promote the consistent exchange of information and a cooperative environment within the center director team and other leadership Attend parent committees, Policy Council and board of director meetings as needed or requested Recognize that your job description is service area specific and that a successful employee upholds the overall employment standards outlined in the Employee Handbook and specifically, but not limited to: confidentiality, child abuse reporting, attendance and dependability, appropriate dress, customer service and support to all families, prudent use of program resources, and promoting and maintaining safe work environment
Supervision:
Supervises assigned department personnel. Includes the following responsibilities, but are not limited to: hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and the completion of all work performed by direct reports Educates direct reports on all department and agency policies and procedures Meets with assigned staff at least monthly to identify and resolve problems, manage projects, track goals, and review work processes and procedures Represents team and/or department at meetings, events, and training as required
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree Required in Early Childhood Education, Family and Child Development, Human Services or related field; MSW Degree Highly Preferred 3+ years' experience in the family and community engagement field, including experience in coaching, supervision, program management and providing technical assistance Expertise in community-based interventions to improve outcomes for low-income families and communities, with direct experience developing and implementing program strategies Demonstrated success in program management, including operational and financial management, evaluation and assessment, and continuous improvement for educational programs Experience leading and inspiring a highly effective team, with a strong commitment to staff development Demonstrated success implementing new programs to engage broad, diverse audiences The ability to effectively manage multiple and diverse responsibilities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment and make a productive contribution to Childcare Resources Experience executing strategies to engage families to support their children's healthy development and school readiness Travel required locally or long-distance up to 10% of the time for work-related meetings and functions Valid driver's license with regular access to a vehicle covered by liability insurance with limits of $100,000/$300,000 Physical exam and background checks are required for this position

Work Environment:
Work is generally performed in an office environment Noise level in the work environment is moderate to occasionally loud (examples: business office with computers and printers, light to moderate traffic, human voices) Standard office equipment generally used includes: o Telephone o Personal Computer (monitor, keyboard, and mouse) or Tablet o Printer/Photocopy Machine o Calculator o Fax Machine May be required to operate a motor vehicle during the course of duties
