Job Description

City Manager City of Richmond, CA The City of Richmond, California, known as the "City of Pride and Purpose", is a vibrant and diverse community of more than 116,000 residents located on the eastern shore of San Francisco Bay—just five miles north of Berkeley and seven miles northeast of downtown San Francisco. Best known for its role as the most productive shipbuilding center of World War II, Richmond has grown into an important industrial, commercial, shipping, and transportation hub, while also diversifying into biotechnology, green technology, alternative energy, and artisanal food manufacturing. Its central location and multimodal transportation network — including BART, Amtrak, AC Transit, ferry service, and two major interstates — make it one of the most accessible and well-connected cities in the Bay Area. The City Manager manages the administration of the city government as prescribed by charter and provides policy guidance while coordinating the activities of department heads. The City Manager is also responsible for fostering cooperative working relationships with civic groups, inter-governmental agencies, and City staff. The City of Richmond is seeking a strong, experienced, and highly relational leader who understands that effective municipal leadership begins with listening, building trust, and bringing people together. The successful candidate will bring strong organizational leadership and financial acumen, with substantial experience managing staff, budgets, and the competing priorities of a complex municipal organization. The salary for the City Manager is negotiable and ranges $205,645.20 - $380,088.96 annually. Placement within the range is dependent on qualifications and experience. In addition to salary, the City offers an outstanding benefits package. If you are interested in this outstanding opportunity, please visit our website at www.bobmurrayassoc.com to apply online.
