A Fiscal Director or Budget Director manages the budget and finance department of government agencies or cities. They manage the operations of the budget and finance department; including leading analysts and staff. They review and make recommendations on budget requests and options in terms of policy, programs and objectives for the agency or city while ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, regulations and statutes. They are responsible for the accumulation of data to support the development of financial analysis and budgeting, including the preparation of quarterly, monthly and annual financial performance measures.

Job Description
Director, Strategic Finance Operations Our client, a rapidly scaling technology company, is seeking a Director of Strategic Finance Operations to build and mature the financial infrastructure supporting core operational functions.
Job Location:
Sunnyvale, CA. This position is primarily onsite with some flexibility. This role will partner closely with operations leadership to deliver decision-ready insights, scalable financial models, and repeatable planning mechanisms as the business grows. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, execution-oriented, and comfortable operating in fast-paced environments where systems and processes are still evolving.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the finance partner to operations leaders, supporting high-impact, data-driven decision-making Build and maintain financial models related to operational costs, capacity planning, and unit economics Develop KPI frameworks, dashboards, and reporting cadence to support operational visibility Own forecasting and variance analysis across operational expense areas Translate complex operational data into clear financial insights and recommendations Design scalable planning processes, definitions, and reporting mechanisms Identify and implement automation and process improvements to reduce manual work Support the development of finance operating rhythms suitable for a more mature organization
Requirements:
7+ years of experience in finance, strategic finance, or FP&A roles Strong financial modeling and analytical skills Proven experience partnering directly with operational or technical teams Ability to build scalable processes in ambiguous, fast-growing environments Clear, concise communication skills with senior stakeholders
