Summary/Objective:
This role is responsible for influencing and communicating the voice, brand, and reputation of Greeley-Evans School District 6. This position leads the planning, development, and execution of comprehensive internal and external communications for a diverse and dynamic district serving ~22,000 students. The Chief of Communications ensures clear, consistent, and transparent messaging that builds trust, strengthens engagement, and advances the Innovation 2030 Strategic Plan.Essential Functions:
Strategic Leadership & Advisory Serve as a strategic advisor to the Superintendent and Superintendent's Cabinet as well as District Leadership Team Anticipate and assess potential district issues, risks, and unintended consequences of district decisions, activities and incidents Support leadership in positioning the district and schools within the community and education market Communications, Marketing and District 6 Branding Develop and implement comprehensive communications, marketing, and branding strategies to promote the district and its services Direct internal and external communication plans and activities Lead and manage communications and presentations for the community Provide leadership and training to staff on effective communication and Accessibility practices Liaison for bond and mill-levy override campaigns Media Relations and Crisis Communications Lead media relations, dignitary visits and crisis communications as a member of the district's crisis response team Serve as district spokesperson when appropriate Write and oversee crisis communication, news releases and responses to media inquiries Train leadership and staff on key messaging and crisis communication strategies Promote district initiatives and educational issues to the media and the public Government Relations Participate in state and federal governmental relations efforts to influence legislation and policies impacting the district Build and maintain relationships with elected officials, dignitaries, state agencies, and key community stakeholders Public Engagement & Community Relations Develop and implement engagement strategies to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders Promote and provide positive community relations and support district initiatives through targeted outreach Department Leadership & Operations Lead and supervise communications staff and functions, including public relations, marketing, publications, social media, video production, and the district website Supervise graphic design, layout, and production of district publications (brochures, flyers, posters, signage, etc.) Direct updates and maintenance of the district's online presence, including the main website and school websites Supervise video production and other multimedia communication efforts Provide support at Board of Education meetings Supervise and evaluate members of the Communications Department (assistant director, digital media manager and specialist, media services manager, bilingual interpreter) Representation & Information Management Attend and support district-wide, school-based, and community meetings to gather and disseminate information Respond to employee, media, and community requests for information and data Coordinate and support district events and recognition activitiesAdditional Qualifications:
