Featured Deputy City Manager City of Naples, FL The City of Naples is conducting a national search for an accomplished and forward-thinking Deputy City Manager. This executive will help lead a premier coastal community known for its exceptional quality of life, strong municipal services, and engaged residents. The award-winning City of Naples (population 19,372) is located in Southwest Florida with a total area of 16.4 square miles, of which 12.3 square miles are land. The City sits on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, directly south of Fort Myers, north of Key West, and west of Fort Lauderdale/Miami. Incorporated as a municipality in 1923, the City celebrated its Centennial year in 2023. The City of Naples is a council/manager form of government, comprised of an elected Mayor and six elected City Council Members to whom the City Manager reports. Appointed by and reporting directly to the City Manager, the Deputy City Manager will be responsible for assisting the City Manager in overseeing the delivery of high quality City services, including providing leadership and direction to assigned department heads and other staff, providing a full range of the following services:
- Business and Economic Development;
- Capital Construction;
- Code Enforcement;
- Community Development;
- Emergency Management;
- Finance;
- Fire;
- Community Services which includes Parks and Recreation functions, programs, & activities;
- Internal Services (including Human Resources,
- Information Technology, and Procurement);
- Police;
- Streets & Stormwater;
- Utilities;
- Real Estate and Asset Management Services; &
- Tourism, Arts, and Culture.
- Directing and coordinating staff work and operating departments;
- Working with other neighboring jurisdictions, such as the county, state, and federal government, other governmental agencies, local citizens, and interest groups; assisting with media relations and public relations;
- Responding to and solving citizen problems; devising policy recommendations, and advising the City Manager of recommendations.
