NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Job Duties:

Plan, direct, and evaluate parish environmental health operations to ensure effective delivery of regulatory programs and public health services. Supervise and develop environmental health staff by establishing performance expectations, conducting evaluations, approving leave and travel, coordinating training, and participating in hiring and disciplinary actions. Oversee administrative functions by maintaining program records, preparing required reports, processing applications and fees, and ensuring compliance with agency policies and procedures. Manage environmental health permitting and inspection activities for retail food establishments, private water wells, and individual sewerage systems while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. Monitor staff productivity, inspection frequencies, travel activities, and program performance to promote efficient operations and high-quality service delivery. Conduct field inspections, investigations, and enforcement activities, including complaint investigations, food safety enforcement, disease outbreak response, post-disaster assessments, and regulatory compliance actions. Provide technical guidance and represent the Office of Public Health by collaborating with government agencies, community partners, and elected officials, supporting public health initiatives, and participating in legal and educational activities.
