Job Description

Assistant Town Manager Town of Wayland, MA The town of Wayland is seeking an experienced and collaborative municipal leader to serve as its next Assistant Town Manager. This is a senior-level management position that provides broad administrative and operational support to the Town Manager and works across Town government to promote effective, efficient, and responsive municipal services. Working under the general direction of the Town Manager, the Assistant Town Manager assists in the overall administration of Town government in accordance with the Town Charter, bylaws, and applicable state and federal laws. The position provides leadership and coordination across assigned municipal departments, manages significant Town-wide initiatives and special projects, and serves as Acting Town Manager in the Town Manager's absence. The successful candidate will be a strategic, highly organized, and collaborative professional who can effectively navigate complex municipal issues, build productive relationships with department heads and boards and committees, communicate effectively with residents and stakeholders, and translate organizational priorities into successful initiatives. Successful candidates will have a Bachelor's degree (MPA, MBA or related degree) and a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in municipal or public-sector management, including supervisory experience. Master's Degree preferred. Must have a valid driver's license. MCPPO certification highly preferred; must obtain certification within 1 year of hire.
Full salary range:
$129,709 to $169,719 per year; starting rate depending upon qualifications.
