Job Description

SCOPE OF WORK
The Tribal Public Health Communication & Data Specialist is a key role within the Tribal HealthDepartment, responsible for developing and executing communication strategies while managing critical health data. This position integrates expertise in public health messaging, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement to support the departments goals of educating and informing the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe (SRST) community and leadership.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Collect, maintain, retrieve, analyze, and interpret Tribal public health and vital health data from Tribal, state, federal, and other reliable sources to identify health trends and support data-driven decision-making.

Serve as the primary public health data liaison and provide administrative and programmatic support to the SRST Tribal Health Department, Tribal Public Health Authority, Great Plains Epidemiology Center, IHS, and other partners, including preparation of monthly and grant reports.

Monitor public health trends and emerging health issues at the national, state, reservation, and local levels, ensuring Tribal stakeholders have timely and relevant information.

Develop and implement strategic communication and messaging initiatives that support public health objectives and effectively communicate health risks, trends, services, and resources to Tribal Leadership and community members.

Develop culturally appropriate health campaigns, educational materials, presentations, and innovative outreach approaches that are accessible, engaging, and responsive to the needs of Tribal communities.

Coordinate the development of print and digital communications, including publications, websites, mobile applications, presentations, dashboards, and other communication platforms used to share public health information.

Collaborate with Tribal governments, IHS, state and federal health agencies, and other partners to align health strategies and coordinate timely, accurate public health communications during emergencies such as pandemics, natural disasters, and other public
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors Degree in Public Health, Communications, Marketing, Data Science, or related field preferred. Valid drivers license and meet insurability requirements.
SHIFT:
Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 4:30 PM
TESTING AND BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS
Subject to pre-employment, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing. Tribal, State, and Federal background investigation and MVR screening required.
HIRING PREFERENCES
Qualified applicants who are enrolled members of a federally recognized Tribe will receive Native American preference. Qualified applicants will receive Veterans Preference with submission of proof of honorable military service (e.g., DD-214).
