The Stability Programs Director provides leadership for Helen's House employees, Housing Programs LVN, and SAH to promote a growing and necessary need for clients to improve economic empowerment, housing sustainability, and safe shelter/housing- before, during, and after leaving an abusive relationship.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
NOTE:
Supervision of Residential Services Staff Maintain regular supervision of Helen's House Team and Housing Department (Shelter Coordinator, Shelter, and Housing Advocates). Review performance outlined in the VSS policy and provide continued training as needed. Assist the teams in long- and short-term goals related to individual positions/responsibilities, service delivery, and meeting grant objectives and programming goals. Work with staff to develop protocol and procedures regarding their programs and client needs. Coach staff and support the growth and continued development of Helen's House and Housing Programs, LVN, and SAH. In conjunction with the Shelter Coordinator, support the scheduling of Housing & Shelter Advocates to ensure Shelter coverage. This includes but is not limited to mobile advocacy, time-off requests, and sick leave. Provide oversight of position orientation, training, and continued monitoring to ensure staff development. Oversee that shelter and housing client files are regularly reviewed. Provide guidance and feedback as needed. Keep current regarding housing programs and funding sources to support Housing Programs LVN and SAH when evaluating client eligibility. Assist with crisis calls and emergencies, and debrief with staff as needed. Coordinate and facilitate meetings with the Shelter Coordinator to provide training and regular staffing of residential cases. In conjunction with the Deputy Director, assist with Advocacy meetings to provide in-house training, cross-training, and supportive staffing of cases. Administrative Duties Participate as part of the administrative team for the agency. Assist in hiring Helen's House and Housing Programs LVN and SAH staff positions. Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and other related grant/contract requirements and reporting, mandatory statistical counts, audits, inspections, and adherence to NASW ethical guidelines. Assist the Deputy Director/Executive Director in developing sound policies and procedures for the position and programs. Participate in planning, implementation, and training of innovative strategies and emerging best practices to ensure high-quality services. Develop and maintain a sound knowledge base of residential matters, including Fair Housing Act, local and state homelessness issues, and other state and federal regulations impacting residential service provision. Ensure that all Helen's House and Housing Programs LVN and SAH staff participate in the 40-hour core domestic violence and sexual assault training. During the first year of employment, ensure staff have completed all required training; thereafter, ensure they complete the training annually. Seek training and professional development opportunities for all Helen's House and Housing Programs LVN and SAH staff to ensure best practices and all state and agency requirements are met. Ensure staff maintain an up-to-date database reporting, including client activities and training. Oversee the maintenance of the Shelter and Housing SharePoint pages, including updating and developing training information. Update Shelter and Housing files to ensure grant compliance on an annual basis. Review and approve financial requests regarding Shelter and Housing client needs (beyond hotel, cab, etc. Evaluate and approve shelter after reviewing concerns. Ensure VSS representation at meetings. Community Relations Build and maintain relationships with relevant allied agencies. Represent the agency on the state and local level at the request of the Deputy Director/Executive Director. Represent the agency by participating and leading in coalitions as needed. General Duties Attend staff meetings and other mandatory training courses for personal development in coordination with the Deputy Director/Executive Director. Develop and keep an updated procedure manual for this position. Rotate Monthly On-call with Shelter Coordinator. Complete and turn in monthly reports to the Deputy Director. Participate in the 40-hour core domestic violence and sexual assault training on a one-time basis. Present and provide training for new staff members and volunteers during each 40-hour core domestic violence training as needed. Provide ongoing education on domestic violence prevention, sexual violence, trafficking, housing, and economic empowerment. Attend conferences and training sessions for professional development as directed by the Deputy Director/Executive Director. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree preferred or bachelor's degree with SSW licensure plus 2+ yrs experience in related field. At least three (3) years of management experience and strong leadership abilities are required. Minimum of 21 years of age. Experience working with diverse populations. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to perform effectively and calmly in crises. Ability to interact with residents in a caring manner while maintaining boundaries. Must be team-oriented and an ethical and objective problem solver. Must have the ability to build relationships with community organizations. Must be team-focused and work exceptionally well with co-workers and partner agency members. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented with excellent computer skills, passionate about helping children and families overcome abuse, and committed to the mission of the Valencia Shelter Services. Basic knowledge of child development, memory, recall, trauma, cultural awareness, and linguistics. Proficient in Microsoft Office or similar software and operating systems such as Windows and macOS. training before assisting survivors Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff, court officials, landlords, and housing professionals. Participate in regular staff meetings, training, supervisory sessions, and accept responsibility for aiding the development of positive team relationships as requested. Track record of demonstrating good judgment, responsibility, and an ability to relate effectively with clients and family members. Must have the ability to triage calls and de-escalation skills Must be able to pass a pre-employment background investigation successfully Must have an acceptable driving record, a valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and a reliable vehicle
