The Stability Services Lead Advocate provides support and guidance to individuals experiencing homelessness, helping them obtain and maintain stable housing while ensuring a safe, peaceful, and productive shelter environment. This role works independently to manage daily shelter activities, provide crisis intervention, conduct needs assessments, navigate resources, manage a caseload, and promote client independence and well-being. Additional responsibilities include mentoring advocates, collaborating with community partners, and supporting positive client outcomes. Client safety and success are the highest priorities. Success in this fast-paced role requires strong prioritization skills, accurate documentation, professional communication, and the ability to manage multiple demands effectively. Leadership & Program Support Provide daily leadership, coaching, mentoring, and support to Housing Advocates and Stability Support Workers. Train, onboard, and provide ongoing guidance to staff. Assist with case consultation, problem-solving, and decision-making for complex client situations. Review advocate documentation, case notes, supplemental forms, and client files to ensure quality and compliance. Conduct supervision meetings and provide constructive feedback to staff. Assist the Stability Programs Director with quality assurance activities. Recommend improvements to agency policies, procedures, and service delivery. Participate in leadership meetings, staff meetings, supervision, and required training for both Shelter and Housing departments. Complete special projects and monthly assignments as delegated Serve as a backup shelter staff member, providing shift coverage as needed and responding to crises, emergencies, or other critical shelter operational needs. Flexibility to workdays, weekends and Holiday to meet the needs of the organization. Serve in a scheduled on-call leadership rotation, providing leadership support and coverage during the absence of the SSC & Stability Programs Director. Housing Advocacy & Case Management Maintain an active caseload utilizing Housing First and Trauma-Informed Care practices. Complete intake assessments and eligibility screenings for housing and shelter programs. Develop individualized housing stabilization plans and service goals. Assist clients in locating and securing temporary, transitional, rapid rehousing, permanent supportive housing, and permanent housing opportunities. Complete housing applications and supportive housing documentation. Assist clients in obtaining documentation necessary for housing, including identification, birth certificates, Social Security cards, proof of income, and other required records. Recruit and maintain positive working relationships with landlords, property managers, housing authorities, and community partners. Advocate on behalf of clients to remove barriers to house. Provide budgeting, financial literacy, income maximization, and tenancy education to promote long-term housing stability. Conduct home visits and housing inspections as required to monitor housing retention and prevent eviction. Coordinate transportation for housing-related appointments when necessary. Connect clients to community resources including rental assistance, utility assistance, food resources, healthcare, employment services, furniture programs, and other supportive services. Coordinate referrals and case management with internal programs and external community agencies. Shelter Operations & Client Support Maintain a safe, secure, and trauma-informed shelter environment. Respond to crisis situations calmly, professionally, and effectively. Complete shelter intake procedures, safety planning, and orientation for new residents. Conduct regular client goal reviews and provide ongoing advocacy. Answer and appropriately respond to the agency's crisis line. Coordinate emergency transportation and referrals when appropriate. Assist with shelter operations including inventory management, facility needs, client transportation, and other operational duties. Assist with administration of agency programs, including CACFP and other program requirements. Support clients with daily living skills, conflict resolution, and independent living development. Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client records. Complete case notes, DAP notes, progress notes, assessments, service plans, and required documentation within established timelines. Ensure data quality and timely entry into HMIS and other agency databases. Prepare documentation required by grant and funding sources. Submit required paperwork by established deadlines. Maintain compliance with agency policies, confidentiality requirements, and applicable federal, state, and funding regulations. Community Engagement Represent Valencia Shelter Services professionally at community meetings, outreach events, and partner collaborations. Develop and maintain effective relationships with landlords, housing providers, government agencies, courts, and community organizations. Participate in community education and outreach activities promoting agency services. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Bachelor's degree in human services related field preferred; equivalent education and experience may be considered. Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in human services, housing programs, homelessness services, domestic violence, victim services, or related field. Previous leadership, supervisory, or lead staff experience preferred. Experience working with diverse, at-risk, and vulnerable populations. Must be at least 21 years of age. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong crisis intervention, de-escalation, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to maintain professional boundaries while providing compassionate services. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience with HMIS, case management software, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar computer systems. Must complete all required agency and funding source trainings. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation Must have a good driving record, valid driver's license, vehicle insurance and a reliable vehicle Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
