Full-Time Posting Detail Information Position Summary The Director of Housing Services provides senior leadership, strategic planning, policy development and operational oversight for the University at Buffalo's housing assignments, ADA housing accommodations, and summer conference housing. This role ensures that UB's on‑campus housing experience is student-centered, accessible, efficient, and aligned with institutional goals. This position reports to the Director of Housing Operations and oversees all aspects of housing services in support of approximately 8,000 undergraduate and graduate students in 13 residence halls and 5 apartment complexes. As a senior leader, the functional areas of responsibility include marketing, housing contracting, room assignment processes, occupancy management, and coordination of room changes, and fostering strong partnerships with campus stakeholders. This position plays a significant role in supporting residential experience, advancing equity and access, and contributing to the university's enrollment and retention strategies.Responsibilities Include:
Provide strategic leadership and administrative oversight for Housing Services, ensuring effective operations and high-quality customer service. Provide vision, design and implementation of occupancy management processes that ensure fiscal targets are met. Partner with Enrollment Management and Marketing & Communications to position on-campus housing as a strategic recruitment and retention tool, using targeted campaigns and data-informed messaging to support full occupancy. Ensure congruence and timeliness of website, print, social media, front desk operations and in person communications to parents, current students, incoming students, and faculty/staff. Responsible for direct and indirect management of the Housing Services team. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in higher education, public administration, business management, administrative services or related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree or professional certification with a minimum of 3 years of experience Supervisory experience with professional staff. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and campus partners to advance shared goals and deliver student-centered outcomes. Strong understanding of housing operations, assignments systems, and ADA accommodation processes. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student-centered service. The ability to interact appropriately with a wide variety of constituents with diverse backgrounds and demonstrate cultural competence. Preferred Qualifications An advanced degree in higher education, public administration, business management, or administrative services. Experience with housing software platforms (e.g., StarRez). Experience managing summer conference housing or related revenue-generating programs. More than five years of progressive experience in supervision and administration in a medium-to-large complex organization.
