Job Summary:
The Staff Assistant will provide support to the University Police - Public Safety Division as well as the University Police - Administrative Division.
Responsibilities will include:
Overseeing and supervising daily operations to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures is maintained Preparation of complex activity reports and emergent notifications Review and approve official departmental documentation Organizing and scheduling contract department personnel and post assignments based on departmental and campus needs, Maintaining and updating files for contract security personnel (Training, Education, counseling, etc.) Processing all Public Safety Daily Activity reports Reviewing all entries in the Automated Report Management System (ARMS) and assisting in additional administrative operational tasks where applicable
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant administrative experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Current NYS Security Guard license required. A valid NYS Driver's License is required. Excellent written & verbal communication skills and strong organizational & planning skills required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suites along with various other computer programs. Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Security operations in the public or private sector is preferred. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills preferred. Adequate knowledge of the SUNY system, Upstate Medical University, and the University Police Department preferred. Leadership experience preferred.
