A Fiscal Director or Budget Director manages the budget and finance department of government agencies or cities. They manage the operations of the budget and finance department; including leading analysts and staff. They review and make recommendations on budget requests and options in terms of policy, programs and objectives for the agency or city while ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, regulations and statutes. They are responsible for the accumulation of data to support the development of financial analysis and budgeting, including the preparation of quarterly, monthly and annual financial performance measures.
The City of Piqua, Ohio is seeking a Finance Director to provide fiscal oversight and financial responsibility for a full-service city with strong traditional values and hometown style known for responsible government and excellence in service delivery. Piqua is 25 miles north of Dayton -- a residential, commercial and light manufacturing community with a distinctive downtown. It is located on the Great Miami River, along the I-75 corridor, north of the I-70 interchange, well connected to the rich and historic culture of Ohio and to national markets. City of Piqua municipal owned utilities include Electric, Water, Wastewater, Refuse, and Stormwater. The City employs 196 full-time employees with an overall budget of approximately $159.9 million. The governmental budget is approximately $45.5 million, including the general fund, parks, safety services and street expenses, with enterprise funds and debt service comprising the remainder. Annual debt service is $5.8 million, primarily in utility funds. The next Finance Director is expected to establish strong trust with City Commission and the public to enhance the credibility of City government. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Public Administration, Business Management or related field, and a minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in a local public agency or municipal government, including six (6) years of supervisory experience; CPA preferred with demonstrated continuing professional development and solid experience with the principles and practice of city management, including budgeting, finance and government program evaluation. The City of Piqua offers a competitive hiring salary range $114,000-$146,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
