A Fiscal Director or Budget Director manages the budget and finance department of government agencies or cities. They manage the operations of the budget and finance department; including leading analysts and staff. They review and make recommendations on budget requests and options in terms of policy, programs and objectives for the agency or city while ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, regulations and statutes. They are responsible for the accumulation of data to support the development of financial analysis and budgeting, including the preparation of quarterly, monthly and annual financial performance measures.

Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Direct the development and review of monthly financial and statistical reporting to ensure timely, accurate insight into organizational performance.
- Lead the preparation and oversight of operating plans, capital spending forecasts, and long-range budget planning activities.
- Oversee completion of annual tax filings along with financial statements for affiliated entities and subsidiaries.
- Manage, mentor, and evaluate finance and accounting team members to support performance, growth, and departmental effectiveness.
- Partner with leadership by supplying financial analysis and supporting data for managed care contract discussions and reimbursement-related decisions.
- Monitor departmental spending against approved budgets each month and provide clear rationale and recommendations when variances occur.
- Advise departments on financial matters, reimbursement questions, and related operational impacts to support sound decision-making.
- Strengthen accounting controls and asset protection practices by helping maintain effective internal safeguards across financial processes and inventories.
- Supervise key accounting support areas such as fixed assets, inventory tracking, accounts receivable, and billing and collections.
- Drive the collection, consolidation, and interpretation of financial data to improve reporting quality, operational understanding, and business outcomes.
- 15+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including senior-level leadership responsibility.
- Demonstrated expertise in annual budgeting, budget administration, and month-end close activities.
- Strong background in financial reporting, variance analysis, and cash flow forecasting.
- Experience within healthcare finance, including reimbursement support and regulated financial reporting.
- Proven ability to lead staff, develop teams, and manage departmental performance.
- Knowledge of internal controls, accounting subsystems, and asset safeguarding practices.
- Ability to communicate financial concepts clearly to operational leaders and executive stakeholders.
