If you have a passion for local government and efficient accounting and finance operations, this role is for you. As a Manager, you will lead a team providing accounting and financial services to our city, county, and special district clients. You will oversee various consulting projects to help government entities address financial, operational, and regulatory challenges, and improve their financial efficiency. Our services include fractional CFO and staffing, long-term planning, budgeting/forecasting, audit preparation, process improvement, utility rate analysis, research/policy drafting, and software implementation. Key responsibilities include:
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, building strong relationships and providing proactive financial and operational guidance Provide financial oversight services with existing clients and new opportunities in the following ways: Close monthly financials Create management reports Participate in client leadership meetings and present recommendations Improve client performance and assist with strategy, budgeting, and forecasting Ensure audit readiness Partner with clients to improve business performance through strategic planning, KPI development, process improvement, internal controls, and other special projects. Advise clients on evolving accounting, finance, and business needs as their organizations grow, supporting change management and long-term success. Collaborate with tax professionals and assist clients in understanding the financial and tax implications of business decisions. Recommend, implement, and support accounting and financial technology solutions to improve efficiency, reporting, and decision-making; provide support and training throughout software implementation process. Review work completed by staff to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with professional standards. Lead project planning, resource allocation, workflow management, and engagement budgeting to ensure timely and successful client service delivery. Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities with existing clients, participating in prospect meetings, and preparing client proposals. Mentor, develop, and lead team members while fostering a strong client service culture and high-performance environment. Leverage technology and AI-enabled tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy while maintaining compliance with firm policies and professional standards.
Ideal Manager candidate has:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field 5+ years experience in practice area with demonstrated leadership capabilities CPA preferred Experience in the local government/utility industry and/or governmental accounting Skilled in software implementations, long-term financial planning, budgeting, cost management, and/or utility rate studies Experience in project and change management Proficient in advanced MS-Excel functions (e.g. VLOOKUP, H-LOOKUP, SUMIFS, conditional statements (IF, MAX, MIN), pivot tables, graphs and charts) Strong quantitative analysis and financial modeling skills, with a focus on improvement and automation Desire to work in a fast-paced environment; Collaborative spirit and adaptability to change Attracting, developing, and retaining the best employees are our highest priorities at Abdo. Additional Information:
At Abdo, we are committed to providing fair, transparent, and competitive compensation that reflects the unique skills and experiences of each candidate. The estimated base pay range for this role is $95,000
  • $130,000.
Offers are typically made below the maximum to allow room for future compensation increases in the role. The compensation offer will be based on factors such as experience, education, licensure, certifications, skills, and business needs. All employees have the opportunity to earn discretionary bonuses based on demonstration of extraordinary performance, special projects of significant importance, or other major accomplishments. Managers are also eligible for a manager bonus program which is awarded based on the consideration of individual contributions, team accomplishments, and firm growth.
