Help expand health care career pathways across rural New York. Health WorkForce New York is hiring a Program Director to lead program development and delivery in rural communities across the state. The work spans student career exploration, expanded clinical training and rotation capacity, and programming that helps rural communities build and keep the health care workforce they need. This is a senior role with real ownership. You'll shape how programs are designed, work directly with partner organizations delivering in their own communities, and hold accountability for results. It suits someone who's comfortable both facilitating collaborative design and holding firm on deliverables and budgets. You'll report to the Chief Innovation & Design Officer and work closely with our CEO and CFAO. What you'll do Lead program planning, work plans, and delivery timelines Serve as the primary relationship lead for partner organizations delivering programming regionally Negotiate and manage contracts and deliverable-based agreements; monitor scope, budget, and performance Manage program budgets through annual planning and forecasting cycles Ensure compliance with funder and organizational requirements, including reporting and procurement standards Oversee data collection, performance tracking, and reporting Work with evaluation partners and translate findings into program improvement Facilitate design sessions that build shared frameworks while preserving local flexibility Supervise a Program Manager and coordinate internal staff Represent programs to leadership, the board, and statewide partners What we're looking for Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in program management, workforce development, public health, education, or health care administration Demonstrated success directing complex, multi-site or multi-partner programs Experience managing grant-funded programs (budget oversight, contracting, compliance, and funder reporting) Strong budget discipline against firm timelines Strong facilitation, writing, and communication skills Ability to travel regularly throughout New York State, including rural regions Nice to have Master's degree in public health, public administration, education, business, or a related field Familiarity with rural health care delivery or health professions education Experience with state or federally funded programs Experience supervising staff and managing consultants or vendors Comfort with data systems and performance measurement Why this role Rural communities face real gaps in health care access, and the people best positioned to close them are already there.
