Summary:

The Program Manager, Applied Workforce and Career Pathway Development is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of Ballad Health's minor employment programs, apprenticeship initiatives, and team member upskilling and career development. This role supports the organization's workforce pipeline strategy by creating structured training opportunities for individuals entering healthcare careers as well as current team members seeking career advancement. The Program Manager collaborates closely with clinical leadership, Human Resources, academic partners, and community organizations to develop sustainable workforce pipelines aligned with Ballad Health's strategic workforce needs. The role also ensures all programs meet applicable Department of Labor (DOL) and state regulations governing the employment of minors and the administration of registered apprenticeship programs. This position operates within the Department of Academics and works in close partnership with Ballad Health Human Resources to support workforce pipeline initiatives. Through this collaborative relationship, the role helps ensure seamless transitions from educational programs into employment opportunities across the health system. Key Responsibilities Develop and manage apprenticeships, minor employment, and workforce upskilling programs across Ballad Health. Partner with Nursing, Allied Health, and department leaders to identify and create apprenticeship and employment opportunities. Manage career specialists who support and mentor team members in career pathways, internal workforce mobility and programs currently in place to financially support team members in continuing their education. Coordinate with academic partners and internal education programs to support transitions from training into employment. Lead recruitment and onboarding for apprenticeships and workforce development participants. Provide mentorship and guidance to apprentices and program participants. Ensure programs comply with Department of Labor and state regulations related to apprenticeships and minor employment. Track program progress and outcomes to ensure success of apprenticeship, minor and career pathway programs.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Workforce Development, Education, Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required. Minimum of 3 years of experience in workforce development, apprenticeship program administration, healthcare education, or talent pipeline management. Must be a strong collaborator who can work in a matrixed environment and team setting to accomplish goals in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Must be a self-starter and have a demonstrated record of thinking outside the box. Experience with grant writing is preferred but not required.
