They are responsible for the accumulation of data to support the development of financial analysis and budgeting, including the preparation of quarterly, monthly and annual financial performance measures.

Job Summary
A Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in the context of research and graduate medical education (GME) is responsible for overseeing the financial health, strategic planning, andpliance of academic medical centers, research programs, and training initiatives. This role bridges clinical, academic, and administrative functions, ensuring that financial resources are aligned with mission goals in education, research, and patient care. Job Responsibilities
1. Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support research funding, faculty appointments, and GME programs.
- Manage budgets for research grants, training programs, and institutional initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
- Oversee revenue streams, including grants, contracts, and institutional funding, and ensurepliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations 2. Research Finance & Compliance
- Coordinate with research administration offices to manage grant accounting,pliance, and reporting.
- Ensure adnce to NIH, NSF, and other funding agency requirements, including cost allocation, indirect cost recovery, and audit readiness.
- Support the development of financial models for research proposals and infrastructure projects. 3. Graduate Medical Education Finance
- Manage budgets for residency and fellowship programs, including training site allocations, facultypensation, and infrastructure costs.
- Work with Chairs and Executives to address financial and operational issues in training departments.
- Support accreditation andpliance requirements for GME programs. 4. Interdepartmental Collaboration
- Serve as a liaison between clinical departments, research centers, and administrative offices on financial matters.
- Partner with human resources to address facultypensation, tenure, and promotion processes.
- Coordinate with investment officers to ensure research and education funds are invested wisely. 5. ing & Governance
- Prepare regular financial reports for senior leadership, boards, and accreditation bodies.
- Represent the institution in financial discussions with donors, trustees, and funding agencies.
- Ensure transparency and accountability in stewardship of research and training funds.
Minimum Required Experience
Five (5) Years of progressive Leadership in finance.
Preferred/Desired Experience
Progressive leadership in Academic medicine, research Administration, or GME.
Minimum Required
MBA or advanced degree in finance, accounting, or health administration.
Minimum Required Special Skills
Expertise in grant accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, andpliance.
