- Checkmate Academy Part-Time | Flexible Schedule | Leadership & Entrepreneurship Opportunity Checkmate Academy is looking for ambitious college students and recent graduates to help lead our expansion into new regions across the United States.
We currently operate chess enrichment programs at more than 100 schools across multiple states. As a Student Regional Director, you will take responsibility for developing Checkmate Academy within your local region, including building relationships with schools, helping launch new programs, recruiting instructors, and overseeing day-to-day regional operations. This position is especially well suited for someone early in their career who wants significantly more responsibility than a typical internship or part-time job. You do not need previous management experience or expert-level chess knowledge. We care much more about initiative, communication skills, reliability, and your ability to take ownership of projects. What You'll Do Reach out to schools, PTAs, recreation departments, and other organizations to develop new partnerships Schedule and participate in meetings with prospective school partners Help launch after-school chess programs throughout your region Recruit, interview, and coordinate local chess instructors Manage instructor schedules and help oversee ongoing programs Maintain relationships with existing school partners Work directly with Checkmate Academy's leadership team on regional growth Gradually take greater ownership of your region as it expands Who We're Looking For We are especially interested in current college students and recent graduates who are: Ambitious, self-motivated, and highly responsible Strong communicators who are comfortable speaking with school administrators and other professionals Organized and able to manage multiple projects independently Interested in entrepreneurship, business development, sales, education, or management Comfortable taking initiative rather than waiting to be given every next step Looking for an opportunity where their responsibilities can grow based on their performance Previous leadership experience is helpful but not required. Strong candidates may have experience starting or leading a student organization, running a small business or side project, organizing events, working in sales, tutoring, recruiting, athletics, student government, or otherwise demonstrating initiative and ownership. Chess expertise is not required. Why This Role Is Different This is not a traditional internship where you will spend most of your time completing administrative tasks for someone else. Regional Directors have meaningful responsibility for developing their territory and can become directly involved in business development, hiring, management, operations, and strategic growth. For the right person, the position can grow alongside the region and continue throughout college and beyond. Compensation Regional Directors receive 50% of the net profits generated by their region . Estimated annual earnings are approximately $10,000

Because compensation is tied to regional performance, this opportunity is best suited for someone who is motivated by building and growing something over time.
