Job Description
Help Support Fair, Accessible, and Efficient Court Services SeaTac Municipal Court plays a vital role in ensuring justice, accountability, and community safety. As a Judicial Support Specialist , you will be part of a highly skilled team that keeps court operations running smoothly and ensures that every customer—attorneys, defendants, victims, law enforcement, and state agencies—receives accurate information and respectful service. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys detailed administrative work, and values public service. You'll be cross-trained across multiple court functions, work independently and collaboratively, and support both in-person and hybrid courtroom operations. Teamwork — You collaborate with judges, attorneys, law enforcement, and colleagues. Court Customer Support Provide information to attorneys, prosecutors, law enforcement, defendants, victims, and state agencies. Assist customers at the counter, by phone, email, mail, fax, and through digital platforms. Process legal documents, research requests, and make accurate docket entries. Case & Records Management Enter criminal, traffic, parking, and code enforcement cases into JIS and Inside Courts. Update case information including hearings, dispositions, warrants, orders, and probation entries. Maintain failure-to-appear records and process related actions. Scheduling & Calendar Coordination Schedule hearings (arraignment, pre-trial, trial, sentencing, mitigation, contested, show cause, motions). Prepare court calendars and notify parties via subpoena or summons. Coordinate interpreters using web-based scheduling systems (e.g., Moli and OCourt). Financial Processing Maintain financial records for infractions, bail, and time payments. Create accounts receivable, set payment schedules, and process payments. Balance daily receipts, prepare deposits, and manage delinquent accounts and collections. Courtroom Operations Prepare courtroom materials and serve as clerk/bailiff during proceedings. Record hearings using AV Capture All or OBS. Assist judges, attorneys, defendants, jurors, and witnesses. Support hybrid hearings using Zoom and other platforms. Additional Responsibilities Track criminal case compliance and schedule review hearings. Process jail commitments, releases, and in-custody calendars. Maintain warrant and order controls. Support jury trial coordination. Maintain electronic filing systems (OnBase). Provide backup coverage and train staff as needed. High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of increasingly responsible clerical experience with an emphasis on customer service OR A combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge and skills to perform the job Oath of Confidentiality (Washington State Administrative Office of the Courts) Valid Washington State Driver's License may be required within 45 days of appointment Satisfactory three-year driving abstract Successful references and criminal background check
