Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional extended days depending on the court schedule Interviews will be held on September 23, 2026 and September 25, 2026
Purpose of Position:
The Judicial Assistant position works under the direction of the Branch I Circuit Court Judge to assist in the effective operation of the Court, making sure everything runs efficiently, smoothly, and in accordance with the established practices, procedures, and instructions. The Judicial Assistant performs clerical duties and assists with the scheduling and judicial administrative duties. As the Judicial Assistant, you will be the point of contact for the court system, professionals, and the public. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Observes and maintains strict confidentiality at all times, in all situations Manages the Judge's court caseload and professional calendars Provides organizational support for the Judge's caseload: tracking case status deadlines, briefs, preparing orders, e-filing, jury instructions, coordinating any in-house services as necessary, monitors case disposition/clearance time limits to ensure they comply with State guidelines. Reviews case files for accuracy, format compliance, and completeness before scheduled hearings at least one day prior to the hearing. Acts as the Judge's liaison to assist and inform litigants, attorneys, and law enforcement personnel concerning court procedure and policy, keeping in mind the needs, pros/cons, logistics, potential problems and solutions for same. Composes and/or edits correspondence, memoranda, directives, notices, orders, emails, agendas and minutes, and other documents. Maintains and schedules cases assigned from outside counties. Receptionist duties, including, but not limited to: answering the telephone, taking messages, filing, transcription, scanning, opening and distributing mail, answering the public's questions. Daily updates to the judicial and office calendars. Assist with conference, training, and travel registrations and vouchering. Schedule video conferences with State correctional institutions or other County jails and verify the compatibility of the associated video conferencing systems. Works with other county offices by providing information or assistance. Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions Associate Degree in Administration, Legal, or related field is required Two (2) or more years of legal or court-related experience, including using word processing and computerized records management, or equivalent combination of education and work experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired This position requires extensive knowledge of the Wisconsin Court System Must be able to successfully pass criminal background check
