Job Description

Job Summary:
The Purchasing Clerk is responsible for supporting the procurement process by handling routine purchasing tasks. This entry-level role focuses on processing purchase orders, maintaining vendor records, and ensuring that inventory levels are managed efficiently. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn about procurement processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the creation and processing of purchase orders based on requisitions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Communicate with vendors to confirm order details, track delivery status, and address basic inquiries or issues. Help monitor inventory levels, track usage, and report low stock situations to ensure adequate supply. Maintain accurate and organized records of purchase orders, receipts, and correspondence with vendors. Input and update purchase order and inventory data into the company's procurement software or database. Adhere to company policies and procedures for procurement and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. Assist with resolving minor issues related to orders, such as discrepancies or returns, and escalate more complex issues to a higher-level clerk or manager. Provide general administrative support to the purchasing department, including filing, organizing documents, and handling routine office tasks.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework or certification in purchasing or supply chain management is a plus. Previous experience in an office environment or administrative role is preferred but not required. Strong attention to detail and accuracy Good organizational and time-management skills Basic communication and interpersonal skills Proficiency in computer applications Ability to learn and adapt to new software and procedures Ability to sit for extended periods and use a computer Occasional lifting of office supplies and materials (up to 25 pounds)
