Job Description

Job Summary:
Qualico Steel is looking for a motivated Purchasing Assistant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn the purchasing side of the structural steel industry. The ideal candidate is teachable, dependable, comfortable using Microsoft Excel, and enjoys working in a collaborative team environment. Key Responsibilities Assist with creating and processing purchase orders. Support the procurement team by tracking purchase orders and following up with vendors. Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation. Update spreadsheets, reports, and purchasing data using Microsoft Excel. Compare vendor pricing and assist with preparing quotes. Organize and maintain vendor information. Communicate with internal departments to ensure purchasing needs are met. Assist with inventory tracking and stock replenishment. Perform general administrative duties related to purchasing and procurement. Support the Purchasing Manager with additional tasks as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous administrative, purchasing, or office experience is preferred but not required. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and multitask in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Willingness to learn purchasing processes and company systems. Strong problem-solving skills and a positive, dependable attitude.
