ASUCLA was created when the campus first opened in 1919. Even in the very early years, ASUCLA meant student government, student publications, and student services such as a bookstore and cafeteria. Today, ASUCLA has evolved into a four-part organization. These four entities collectively make up the largest student association in the country.
The four entities are:
Undergraduate Students Association
  • elected representatives of the undergraduate student body. Graduate Students Association
  • elected representatives of the graduate student body. Student Media
  • this includes the Daily Bruin, UCLARadio.com, the Bruin Life Yearbook, and seven different magazines. Services & Enterprises
  • this division is designed to meet the everyday needs of students and the campus community.
Major divisions are the Student Union, Event Services, UCLA Restaurants, UCLA Store, UCLA Photography, and Trademarks & Licensing.
Goals of Associated Students UCLA:

Bearwear Assistant Buyer/Office Manager Salary Range:
$50,000

BearWear Summary of Key Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the BearWear Buyer, assists in the development and inventory management of defined product assortments to achieve sales, gross margin, and contribution plans including product selection, assortment planning, vendor negotiations, marketing strategies, develops and maintains email marketing calendar and fiscal controls in a fast-paced retail environment. Work with Outlying Store Managers to order and replenish apparel/gift merchandise for their stores. Assist the E-Commerce department with building assets for our website. Develop assortment and merchandise LVC and HSS products at the outlying stores as well as UCLA Ackerman Store. In addition to buying responsibilities, supervises administrative activities that support department operations. Administers the department's automated retail records systems: processes purchase orders, chargebacks, price changes and transfers; resolves related discrepancies/problems; monitors open-tobuy levels, coordinates co-op for catalog and proficient in warehouse management system. Assists in coordinating Division programs and events. Performs financial tracking and reconciliation. Develop a database to manage product information for the web. Interfaces with customers and vendors. Performs reporting/analysis of Division activities. Participates in taking, reconciling and maintaining the spreadsheets for physical inventory. Develops and monitors office procedures and systems. Oversees general office duties such as data entry; answering phones; greeting visitors; scheduling meetings; ordering supplies. Hires, schedules, trains, evaluates, and counsels student staff in all activities. Assists in other areas of the Division including but not limited to concession and promotional events. Performs special assignments.
Qualifications:
Requires 2+ years related management and/or buying experience in a high-volume retail environment that includes supervision.
Experience must demonstrate:
effective handling of multiple priorities and timelines; effective interface with diverse individuals/groups; attention to detail and accuracy in performing work; proficiency with PC word processing/spreadsheet, retail computer systems and reporting. BA/BS required or the equivalent combination of education and experience. This position is included in the California Department of Motor Vehicles' ("OMV")

will receive notices of any convictions for moving vehicle violations, both on and off the job. Employment is contingent on the maintenance of a valid CA driver's license and good driving record, as defined by the OMV and ASUCLA.
Supervises:
Directly and indirectly supervises part-time/student staff.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent walking, sitting, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, gripping, pulling, pushing; occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
