SUMMARY OF POSITION
This position is responsible for collaborating with purchasing department personnel to support various supply chain activities. This internship is an excellent opportunity for students interested in business, supply chain management, or related fields to gain hands-on experience in a professional setting.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/COMPETENCIES
Assist in
Purchase Order Processing:
Work with the purchasing team to process and track purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
Vendor Communication:
Communicate with vendors to obtain quotes, negotiate terms, and gather necessary information for decision-making.
Data Entry and Analysis:
Maintain accurate records of purchasing activities, update databases, and perform basic data analysis to identify trends or areas for improvement.
Inventory Management:
Collaborate with the inventory control team to monitor stock levels, track deliveries, and assist in maintaining optimal inventory levels.
Documentation:
Prepare and organize documentation related to purchasing activities, including contracts, invoices, and shipping documents.
Collaboration:
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, logistics, and operations, to ensure smooth coordination of purchasing activities. Manages outside processing flow, including issuing purchase orders, insuring accuracy of price and lead time, expediting/deferring as necessary, tracking supplier performance, and working to reduce cost/waste/lead time. Additional duties as required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school student with a strong interest in business, supply chain, or related fields. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
