Product Manager, Surplus Rifle Program Position Summary:
The Armory Lead is assigned to the Anniston Armory (AM). This position is responsible for personnel management, production goals, and daily operations of surplus firearm production within the confines of AM. This position serves as the liaison between armory personnel and the Product Manager. The main charge of this position is to maintain safe processes while increasing productivity and reducing potential wastes of time and CMP assets. Additionally, this position is to cultivate a positive climate and culture within the facility while maintaining a high level of production. This role works under the direction of the Product Manager, Surplus Rifle Program and is supported on a day-to-day basis by all sections inside of the Armory. This position carries supervisory authority over all staff assigned as armorers excluding those assigned to the Custom Shop, Auction, and Logistics Sections of the Armory. The position requires a dependable, detail-oriented individual who can work consistently and accurately within established procedures while collaborating closely with armorers and lead personnel. Specific duties, schedule, and operational focus will vary based on the firearm model in production. Assignment-specific details will be clarified as production priorities change.
Position Responsibilities:
Personnel Management Supports the full employee lifecycle—including recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding. Monitor daily processes to ensure safe operations, and strategically coordinate personnel, movements, and parts procurement with Logistics to meet goals set by the Product Manager. Enforce company policies and guarantee strict adherence to local, state, and federal labor laws across all operational activities. Monitor and execute payroll processing and benefits administration, efficiently resolving discrepancies or escalating complex issues to the Product Manager. Foster a healthy work culture aligned with the CMP mission and vision. Production Goals Coordinate weekly production plans with the Project Manager or independently develop manufacturing schedules based on customer demand forecasts and sales orders when needed. Adjust manufacturing plans in response to equipment downtime, rush orders, or operational bottlenecks to optimize production flow. Monitor operations to identify, document, and report potential shortfalls or delays directly to the Product Manager to prevent production disruptions. Maintain accurate inventory levels of expendable supplies and coordinate directly with the logistics section to facilitate necessary reorders. Oversee purchases to ensure they are made ethically, strictly adhering to established cap limits and budget constraints. Daily Operations Partner with the Product Manager and other staff to design and tailor employee training programs based on performance assessments and observations. Coordinate with internal armory departments to identify staffing needs, and work with the Product Manager to strategically reallocate personnel and fill operational shortfalls. Collaborate with Supervisors and Leads to efficiently resolve employee conflicts, escalating any unresolved issues to the Product Manager. Participate in process improvement initiatives, system rollouts, and training programs directed by management to optimize workflows. Drive a culture focused on strict attention to detail, ensuring all armory functions are performed safely, efficiently, and economically.
Skills & Qualifications:
Required Skills Two or more years of operational experience in the firearm industry. Working proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams) and basic computer skills. Working proficiency using ERP and inventory systems. Clear written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work collaboratively with CMP employees, contractors, and customers. Preferred Qualifications Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., supply chain, business, operations, or logistics). Prior experience in Personnel or Production Management. Work Environment, Physical Requirements & Travel On-site position located at the Armory. Work performed in a combination of office, warehouse, and operational/production environments depending on assignment. Ability to lift 25 pounds is required; ability to lift up to 50 pounds with appropriate assistance or material handling support. Regular standing, walking, bending, and reaching required to perform inventory activities. Occasional/infrequent travel; most work is performed at the armory. Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. Inventory, retail, warehouse, or related operational experience required.
