GED Full Job Description Overview:

Responsibilities:
Schedules patient's surgery or testing as ordered by the physician; schedules office and hospital based medical procedures, for patients with appropriate provider and time/location slot utilizing scheduling codes; schedules office and hospital based medical procedures, tests and imaging; enters notes/special instructions needed for scheduling in the electronic medical record; effectively utilizes clinical knowledge when determining if an appointment is consistent with the diagnosis/indications by the provider; provides accurate, detailed information to patients regarding test preparation, time of patients scheduled arrival, and any other directional information needed; takes appropriate action in responding to questions from patients; confirms patient's insurance provider and obtains prior authorization; ensures patients have proper medical clearance and pre-surgical testing as needed; completes pre-procedure phone calls and confirms appointment times with patients via telephone; assists other members of the department as needed; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required. Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent and four years of related experience. Experience in customer service and/or experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
