Job Description

Job Overview The Senior Planner is responsible for leading complex production planning, materials coordination, and scheduling activities to support aerospace manufacturing and aftermarket operations. This role ensures on time delivery, optimal inventory levels, and alignment between customer demand, engineering requirements, and production capacity. The Senior Planner serves as a cross‑functional liaison, driving planning excellence and continuous improvement across the organization. Essential Responsibilities Production Planning & Scheduling Develop, maintain, and ensure detailed production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements and internal capacity constraints. Translate demand forecasts, engineering changes, and customer orders into executable production plans. Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and adjust schedules proactively to mitigate risks or delays. Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, and engineering to resolve constraints and maintain schedule integrity. Materials & Supply Chain Coordination Ensure material availability by managing MRP signals, purchase requisitions, and supplier lead times. Analyze inventory levels and implement strategies to reduce excess and obsolescence. Collaborate with procurement to address supplier shortages, expedite critical materials, and support long‑term sourcing strategies. Data Analysis & Reporting Track key planning metrics such as on-time delivery (OTD), schedule adherence, inventory turns, and capacity utilization. Prepare and present planning reports to leadership, highlighting risks, opportunities, and recommended actions. Maintain accurate planning data within ERP/MRP systems. Cross‑Functional Collaboration Partner with engineering on new product introductions (NPI), configuration changes, and technical requirements. Support program management with customer communication, delivery commitments, and recovery plans. Lead planning-related problem‑solving activities using root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies. Continuous Improvement Identify and implement process improvements to enhance planning accuracy, efficiency, and responsiveness. Contribute to ERP optimization, planning parameter refinement, and standard work development. Mentor junior planners and support team development.
Qualifications:
Required Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). 5-8+ years of planning experience in aerospace, defense, or a highly regulated manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, or similar). Demonstrated ability to manage complex schedules and multi-level BOMs. Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools. Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills. Preferred
APICS/ASCM
certification (CPIM, CSCP). Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies. Familiarity with FAA, AS9100, or defense compliance requirements.

$80,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
