Full Job Description Summary:
The Scheduling Coordinator arranges and manages off-site specialist appointments for urgent, routine, and follow-up care based on approved authorizations and scheduling timelines. The role collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team, coordinates communication between participants, primary care physicians, specialists, and Utilization Management, and helps ensure participants receive timely access to the specialty care they need.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong customer service skills with a professional, courteous, and responsive approach. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Skilled at resolving complex issues with diplomacy and tact. Knowledge of ICD and CPT coding related to authorizations. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and EMR systems (Epic and Connect). Familiar with medical terminology. Experienced with electronic health records, patient referrals, and specialty appointment coordination. Strong organizational, prioritization, multitasking, and time management skills. Detail-oriented, productive, and able to work independently and collaboratively. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and PHI privacy requirements. Able to work effectively with diverse populations and demonstrate cultural sensitivity. Bilingual (English/Spanish/Mandarin/Cantonese) preferred, depending on location. Self-motivated, proactive, and committed to continuous performance improvement.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform light physical activities, including walking, standing, sitting, bending, and lifting up to 10 lbs. Strong hand and wrist dexterity for extensive computer use, typing, and data entry (up to 7 hours daily). Effective verbal communication and hearing skills for interacting with patients, clients, and coworkers. Willingness and ability to travel to various locations as needed to support program and job requirements.
Pay:
$24.00 - $26.00 per hour
