Competitive salary Dental insurance Health insurance Vision insurance We are seeking an experienced Ocean Freight Operations Specialist to manage ocean export bookings and daily freight-forwarding operations. The ideal candidate should understand international shipping procedures and be capable of independently handling the entire ocean export process.
Responsibilities:
Receive shipping instructions and confirm routes, vessel schedules, container types and quantities, ports of loading, and destinations. Submit bookings to ocean carriers or agents and review booking confirmations (SO). Coordinate container pickup, loading, trucking, customs clearance, terminal delivery, and documentation cutoffs. Prepare and review bills of lading and submit Shipping Instructions (SI) and VGM documentation. Track vessel departures, shipment status, and arrivals, and promptly address any delays or operational issues. Communicate with customers, ocean carriers, customs brokers, trucking companies, and overseas agents. Review ocean freight charges, accessorial fees, and invoices, and assist with accounts receivable and payable entries when required. Qualifications: Previous experience in ocean exports, international freight forwarding, or freight operations. Ability to independently manage the entire ocean export process, from order intake and booking through customs coordination, bill of lading confirmation, and cost reconciliation. Familiarity with SO, SI, VGM, bills of lading, and other ocean export documentation. Experience handling both FCL and LCL shipments. Experience with U.S., European, or Southeast Asian trade lanes is preferred. Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills. Detail-oriented, responsible, and able to manage multiple shipments. Bilingual English and Chinese communication skills are preferred.
