Job Description

Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as a Medical Assistant/Surgery Scheduler, with experience/interests in Orthopedics (hands). As a Medical Assistant/Surgery Scheduler, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and scheduling appointments and surgical procedures for our patients. Your responsibilities will include managing patient appointments, communicating with healthcare providers, submitting and obtaining insurance authorization and ensuring the smooth flow of the surgical scheduling process.
Duties:
  • Schedule surgical procedures, consultations, and follow-up appointments for patients
  • Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare providers to ensure availability and proper scheduling, including implants, aftercare, medications and transportation
  • Obtain necessary medical clearances and pre-operative testing for patients
  • Communicate with patients regarding their surgery schedule, including pre-operative instructions and any necessary preparations
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in electronic medical record systems
  • Collaborate with insurance companies to obtain pre-authorizations for surgeries
  • Assist in coordinating operating room schedules and ensuring efficient use of resources
  • Provide administrative support to the surgical team as needed
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in surgery scheduling or medical administrative support
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
  • Familiarity with coding and billing processes related to surgical procedures
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with patients and healthcare providers
