- The Materials Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining optimal inventory levels to support production and operational efficiency while adhering to company policies and procedures.
In this role, you track, analyze, and reconcile inventory records to ensure accuracy and availability, while collaborating closely with procurement, production, and warehouse teams to optimize inventory flow and minimize discrepancies. You work on moderately complex assignments that require sound judgment, attention to detail, and a strong focus on continuous improvement. - Responsibilities
- + Monitor inventory levels to ensure materials are available to meet production and operational requirements.
+ Receive and count stock items and accurately record data using a computerized inventory system. + Pack and unpack items and stock shelves in an orderly and accessible manner within the stockroom. + Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits to identify and reconcile stock discrepancies. + Investigate and resolve inventory variances by working closely with procurement, warehouse, and production teams. + Issue and distribute materials, products, parts, and supplies to internal customers based on incoming requisitions. + Maintain accurate inventory records within the ERP/MRP system, ensuring data integrity and timely updates. + Support packaging and shipping activities, which may include domestic and international shipments, small packages, large freight, dangerous goods, and sensitive items, depending on warehouse assignment. + Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to track incoming shipments and expedite critical materials when necessary. + Assist in implementing inventory control policies, procedures, and process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste. + Work on moderately difficult assignments, applying judgment to resolve issues and make recommendations. + Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or inventory managers to support overall materials management.
- Essential Skills
- + High school diploma or GED equivalent.
+ Minimum of 2-4 years of related stockroom or inventory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. + Foundational knowledge of inventory management principles and warehouse operations. + Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. + Experience using MRP/ERP systems for inventory tracking and control. + Demonstrated computer skills and proficiency with office software and computerized inventory control systems. + Valid driver's license and a clean driving record to operate company vehicles. + Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with consistent attention to detail. + Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. + Ability to work effectively in both office and warehouse/manufacturing environments. + Ability to regularly stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate computers, mobile devices, and handle inventory. + Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and handle objects of varying sizes and shapes.
- Work Environment
- This position is based in a combined office and warehouse/manufacturing environment, where you regularly move between computer-based tasks and hands-on inventory work.
The role follows a 9/80 schedule, providing every other Friday off, with openness to occasional Saturday work when needed. A typical first-shift schedule runs from approximately 5:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with one week totaling 36 hours and the following week totaling 44 hours, including an 8-hour Friday. You will frequently stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, and use your hands and fingers to operate computers, mobile devices, and handle inventory. The position may require lifting up to 60 lbs and handling items of various sizes and shapes. You may also operate material-handling equipment such as dollies, pallet jacks, and forklifts in loading and unloading supplies and equipment. The environment emphasizes safe material handling practices, adherence to standard operating procedures, and careful handling of sensitive and electro-static discharge (ESD) components.

- Pay and Benefits
- The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your jobclassification and length of employment.
