Job Description

Job Overview The Production Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and adjusting production schedules to ensure customer demands are met while maximizing production efficiency, capacity utilization, product freshness, and inventory management. This position serves as a key liaison between Production, Sales, Procurement, Logistics, Quality Assurance, and other departments to coordinate scheduling activities, resolve constraints, and support operational objectives. The Production Scheduler monitors raw material availability, production progress, inventory levels, and customer requirements to optimize workflow, minimize waste, and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality products. Duties
  • Develop, maintain, and adjust daily and weekly production schedules to meet customer demand while maximizing production capacity and operational efficiency.
  • Prioritize production activities based on customer orders, product specifications, inventory levels, capacity constraints, and business priorities.
  • Monitor production progress and make real-time schedule adjustments to address changes in demand, equipment availability, production performance, labor availability, or other operational needs.
  • Monitor inbound raw material availability and quality and modify production schedules as necessary based on changes in delivery timing, quantity, or quality concerns.
  • Communicate production schedules, priorities, and schedule changes to Production, Sales, Procurement, Logistics, and other impacted departments.
  • Support new product introductions and rollout initiatives by incorporating new items into production schedules and communicating planning requirements to cross-functional teams.
  • Coordinate with Production, Quality, Procurement, Logistics, Sales, and other departments to resolve scheduling conflicts, production constraints, and order fulfillment issues.
  • Monitor finished goods inventory levels and product aging to ensure production activities align with customer demand and inventory objectives.
  • Analyze production, inventory, and scheduling data, including key performance indicators (KPIs), to identify opportunities for improving schedule adherence, efficiency, capacity utilization, and overall operational performance.
  • Coordinate production schedules to support product freshness, shelf-life requirements, and customer delivery commitments while minimizing inventory aging and product waste.
  • Maintain accurate and timely production schedules within ERP, MRP, and other planning systems.
  • Prepare and distribute reports related to production schedules, inventory status, capacity planning, and customer order fulfillment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to scheduling processes, workflow optimization, inventory management, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety standards, quality standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Ability and willingness to cross-train in other operational functions and assist team members as needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned . Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred, not required.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in production scheduling, production planning, supply chain, manufacturing, or operations.
  • Experience in food processing, agriculture, packaging, manufacturing, or a related industry preferred.
  • Experience using ERP, MRP, warehouse management, inventory management, or production planning systems required.
  • Strong understanding of production scheduling, capacity planning, inventory management, and supply chain principles.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret production data and make effective scheduling decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Knowledge of fresh produce operations, food safety standards, inventory rotation practices, and shelf-life management preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and lean manufacturing principles preferred.

From $70,304.00 per year
