Durango Food BankPart-Time | 28-30 Hours per Week Durango Food Bank is seeking a dependable, hands-on Pantry Operations Assistant to support the daily operation of our food pantry and work alongside staff and volunteers in serving our community. This is a hands-on position requiring professionalism, sound judgment, confidentiality and a strong commitment to providing client-centered service with dignity and respect. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys active, team-oriented work, can move easily between different tasks and takes pride in keeping things organized, stocked and ready for the people who depend on our services.

PM Tuesday:

PM Wednesday:
8:30 AM-4:30
PM Thursday:
8:00 AM-2:00 PM Approximately 28-30 hours per week . Some flexibility is needed for occasional special events, food drives, large deliveries or other activities that may take place on Fridays, Saturdays or outside regular hours.
Compensation & Benefits Pay:
$19.00 per hour Benefits for this part-time position include: Paid sick leave Paid vacation time 11.5 paid holidays per year What You'll Do The Pantry Operations Assistant helps keep daily pantry operations running smoothly by: Preparing the pantry for food distribution. Working alongside volunteers during prep and distribution. Helping volunteers understand priorities and assigned tasks. Filling in where needed when volunteer coverage is limited. Stocking pantry shelves, refrigerators and freezers. Sorting and rotating bread, produce and other food. Organizing back-stock and inventory areas. Assisting with incoming food, commodity and donation deliveries. Helping unload, move, organize and store products. Maintaining clean, organized and safe work areas. Monitoring refrigerator and freezer temperatures and completing routine logs. Assisting with client-service and front-desk functions when needed. Helping ensure pantry and work areas are prepared for the next shift or distribution. Supporting special events, food drives and other projects as assigned. End-of-Shift Readiness An important part of this role is helping make sure the next team is set up for success. Before the end of each shift, the Pantry Operations Assistant helps ensure work areas are organized, stocking needs are addressed, supplies are returned to the proper locations and unfinished priorities are clearly communicated. Cross-Training Durango Food Bank believes strongly in shared knowledge and teamwork. This position will be cross-trained in a variety of food bank functions, including: Stocking Bread, Produce, Pantry, Fridge and Freezer, etc. Front Desk Distribution Support New Client Intake Receiving deliveries and donations Inventory organization and rotation Basic appointment and client support Staff will periodically participate in scheduled cross-training so essential operations are not dependent on any one person. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is: Dependable and able to maintain a consistent schedule. Able to maintain confidentiality of client information and internal organizational matters, including personnel, staff, leadership and board-related information. Comfortable working with volunteers and clients from many different backgrounds while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. Friendly, respectful and team-oriented, with a willingness to jump in wherever needed. Professional, thoughtful and able to exercise good judgment. Organized and able to recognize what needs to be done. Comfortable moving between tasks as priorities change. Able to follow established procedures and ask questions when something is unclear. Comfortable learning basic computer systems used for client and operational tasks. Able to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers without creating divisions, side groups or an "us versus them" environment. Previous warehouse, retail, customer-service or volunteer experience is helpful but not required. Physical Requirements This is an active position that may include: Standing and walking for extended periods. Bending, reaching, stocking and sorting. Pushing carts and moving food and supplies. Safely lifting and carrying boxes and other items. Working briefly in refrigerator or freezer areas. Working in pantry, warehouse, receiving and client-service environments.
