Inventory Purchasing Agent / Factory Scheduler Hood Depot International Deerfield Beach, FL Job Details Full-time $50,035.93 - $60,258.32 a year 9 hours ago Qualifications ERP systems High school diploma or GED Manufacturing facility experience Attention to detail SAP ERP Full Job Description Position Summary The Inventory Purchasing Agent / Factory Scheduler is responsible for maintaining appropriate inventory levels, purchasing materials and components, and coordinating the factory's production schedule. This position works closely with production, project management, engineering, sales, and suppliers to ensure materials are available and manufacturing orders are completed accurately and on time. Primary ResponsibilitiesInventory Control Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, components, hardware, and production supplies. Maintain accurate inventory records in the company's inventory or ERP system. Establish and maintain minimum, maximum, and reorder quantities. Perform routine inventory counts and assist with physical inventory audits. Investigate and correct inventory shortages, overages, and discrepancies. Identify slow-moving, obsolete, or excess inventory. Confirm materials are properly received, labeled, stored, and issued to production. Purchasing Create and issue purchase orders for materials, components, equipment, and supplies. Request and compare supplier quotes based on price, quality, availability, and lead time. Monitor open purchase orders and follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery. Expedite critical materials when necessary to prevent production delays. Verify order confirmations, quantities, pricing, and delivery dates. Coordinate returns, replacements, credits, and warranty claims with suppliers. Maintain accurate supplier information, pricing, and purchasing records. Develop and maintain reliable relationships with vendors and alternate suppliers. Communicate material shortages, delivery delays, and pricing changes to management. Factory Scheduling Create and maintain the daily and weekly factory production schedule. Review sales orders, project requirements, approved drawings, material availability, and promised completion dates before releasing work to production. Prioritize manufacturing orders based on customer commitments, material availability, and production capacity. Coordinate with production supervisors to assign realistic start and completion dates. Confirm required materials, drawings, and documentation are available before production begins. Track work orders through each stage of manufacturing. Adjust the production schedule when priorities, material availability, staffing, or project requirements change. Identify scheduling conflicts and production bottlenecks before they affect delivery dates. Communicate schedule changes and potential delays to the appropriate departments. Participate in production meetings and provide updates on purchasing, inventory, and order status. Additional Responsibilities Assist with job costing and material-usage reporting. Maintain organized purchasing, inventory, and production records. Help develop procedures that improve inventory accuracy and manufacturing efficiency. Recommend opportunities to reduce material costs and supplier lead times. Coordinate with receiving personnel to verify incoming materials. Perform other related duties as assigned by management. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or relevant technical training preferred. Previous experience in purchasing, inventory control, production scheduling, or manufacturing operations preferred. Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to changing production requirements. Comfortable working with inventory-management, ERP, scheduling, or accounting software. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications. Ability to read bills of materials, purchase orders, production orders, and basic manufacturing drawings. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with suppliers, production employees, project managers, and company leadership. Good judgment, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability. Preferred Experience Experience in sheet-metal fabrication, HVAC equipment, commercial kitchen ventilation, or a related manufacturing environment. Experience purchasing motors, electrical controls, sheet metal, refrigeration components, hardware, and other manufactured-product components. Familiarity with bills of materials, material requirements planning, and production-capacity planning. Performance Expectations Success in this position will be measured by: Inventory accuracy Material availability Supplier delivery performance Purchasing cost control Reduction of material-related production delays Accuracy and reliability of the factory schedule On-time completion of manufacturing orders Clear communication between purchasing, production, and project management Physical and Work Requirements Primarily an office and manufacturing-facility position. Must be able to regularly walk through production and warehouse areas. May occasionally be required to lift or move materials weighing up to 30 pounds. Must follow all company safety rules while working in warehouse and production areas.
