Job Description

Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital's WaKeeney Family Care Center & Business Office is looking for a full-time Centralized Scheduler Coordinator.
  • Full-time position available Position Overview The Centralized Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for coordinating patient scheduling for hospital outpatient departments, provider clinics, diagnostic services, rehabilitation services, and other ancillary departments.
This position serves as the primary point of contact for scheduling services, obtaining referrals and prior authorizations, verifying insurance eligibility, and coordinating communication between patients, providers, physician offices, and insurance payers. Working within the Registration Department and under the direction of the CNO and CFO, the Centralized Scheduling Coordinator plays an integral role in ensuring patients receive timely access to care while supporting accurate registration, insurance compliance, and reimbursement. This position collaborates with providers, nursing staff, Registration, Patient Financial Services, and ancillary departments to promote efficient patient flow and exceptional customer service.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Schedule patient appointments for outpatient clinics, specialty providers, rehabilitation services, imaging, laboratory, and other ancillary departments in accordance with provider schedules and departmental protocols.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and assist patients with scheduling, rescheduling, cancellations, and general appointment inquiries.
  • Verify and update patient demographic, insurance, and contact information.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits prior to scheduling services.
  • Obtain referrals and prior authorizations in accordance with payer requirements and hospital policies.
  • Communicate with commercial insurance carriers, Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party payers regarding authorization requirements, medical necessity guidelines, and covered services.
  • Coordinate with referring providers and physician offices to obtain referrals, orders, and supporting clinical documentation.
  • Provide patients with appointment information, preparation instructions, financial responsibilities, and required documentation
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
High School graduate or equivalent 2 years of hospital billing experience including inpatient billing preferred. Patient and pleasant personality; ability to exhibit cooperation and flexibility; works well with a variety of people Must have excellent customer service and phone etiquette skills Detail-oriented and self-motivated with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively. Capable of maintaining composure in stressful situations
