RANGE OPERATIONS SPECIALIST-TITLE
32, GS-0301-9, you will implement range operions functions directly reled to the safe and efficient utilizion of the Range and Training Area (RTA) complex during live fire and live training operions on multiple ranges, maneuver training area, and live training facilities. Perform range safety functions to include on-site inspections of ranges and training areas, safety pre-briefing to using military and civilian agencies, investigion of range accidents/incidents, and providing technical guidance and advice to supervisors, range safety officers, and unit personnel. Monitor and inspect the range and training area complex for training and recreional activities to ensure compliance with all applicable regulions, procedures, range, or facility standard opering procedures (SOPS), range risk assessments, Surface Danger Zones (SDZs) overlays, and special instructions. Inspect and enforce safe weapons firing and handling, ammunition handling and accountability, safe troop movement, tactical training safety, target emplacement, environmental compliance, and installion and maintenance of warning signs/roadblocks and barriers preventing access to permanent and temporary impact areas and designed hazard areas. Ensure th weher informion is dissemined to all units who are utilizing ranges, live training facilities, and maneuver training areas on normal and emergency advisories. Coordine requests for air and ground medical evacuion for injured personnel in the Range and Training Area (RTA) complex. Investige incidents th occur in the RTA complex as required. Recommend measures to correct deficiencies or elimine hazards when detected on ranges, maneuver training areas, or live training facilities. Immediely halt any questionable safety practices detected on the Range and Training Area (RTA) complex. Coordine with unit range safety officers to assist developing risk assessments and implementing controls and mitigions of identified hazards. Perform other duties as assigned. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
You must maintain membership in the Kentucky Nional Guard. You must be assigned to a compible military position. Wear of the military uniform. Position may require a pre-employment physical. May be subject to furlough actions. May be required to successfully complete a trial period. Participion in direct deposit is mandory. Must obtain a favorable adjudicion of a T3 or equivalent investigion. Acceptance of a Federal position may termine a military bonus. Acceptance of a Federal position will termine Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Must successfully complete the Inter-service Range Safety Course (Intermedie) or the Range Safety Course Level II course. Qualificions
MINIMUM REQUIREMENT
Experience which provided a general knowledge of principles of organizion, management, and administrion. Experience using computer and automion systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
Must have least 24 months of experience performing and overseeing range safety, range maintenance, range communicions, and operions. Experience conducting group briefings and providing technical guidance and assistance. Experience th provides working knowledge of regulions, pamphlets, and instructions regarding policies and procedures for live firing training, handling ammunition, and the giving instruction to personnel on various weapon systems.
