Ecology Center Responsibilities :
The Ecology Center at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette invites applications for the position of Operations Coordinator . The preferred candidate will have previous experience (1) using commercial farm equipment including tractors and zero-turn mowers; (2) towing and operating small boats (<30 ft), including airboats; (3) basic carpentry and plumbing skills; and (4) knowledge of Louisiana's native, flowering plants. The candidate will work at the Ecology Center (703 Thoroughbred Dr, Lafayette, LA 70507) with the Director and Operations Manager to maintain 50-acre facility that houses irrigated agricultural fields (~30 acres), greenhouses, shade houses, and a dry and wet lab used to support the university's research, education, and public outreach activities. The preferred candidate will be able to apply their skills to diverse suite of tasks daily and work well independently and with a team. The specific role of the selected candidate will include: Maintain Ecology Center's maintain research fields , greenhouse, and facilities; Tow and operate small (<30ft) boats in local rivers, estuary, and coastal waters; Construct "construct infrastructure for diverse research projects; Assist the Operations Manager with harvesting native flowering plant seeds; Perform physical labor (i.e., must be able to carry 50 lbs. up a 15-ft ladder). The Operations' Coordinator will work the Operations Manager and be supervised directly Dr. Kelly Robinson. The position will require single or multi-day travel and may require working and traveling on weekends.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelors of Science; Proficiency operating commercial farm equipment including tractors and zero-turn mowers; (2) towing and operating small boats (<30 ft), including airboats; (3) basic carpentry and plumbing skills; and (4) knowledge of Louisiana's native, flowering plants; High degree of organization, strong communication skills, and ability to manage a variety of tasks, environments and dynamic schedule.
