Our client is an established and highly respected specialty contractor in the geotechnical and geostructural construction industry. They are looking for a motivated professional to join their field operations team and learn the business from the ground up, with the opportunity to develop into a Construction Superintendent. You don't need to come to us as a construction expert. You do need to be someone who can organize, communicate, follow through, solve problems, learn quickly, and earn people's trust. What Does This Job Actually Do? Construction projects involve a tremendous amount of coordination. People need to know where they're going and what they're doing. Materials and equipment need to arrive at the right place at the right time. Project Managers need accurate information from the field. Clients need updates. Safety and quality requirements need to be documented. And when something changes—and it will—someone needs to help figure out what happens next. That's where you come in. You'll work alongside experienced Superintendents, Project Managers, field crews, and operations personnel learning how construction projects are managed in the field. Initially, much of your role will involve coordination, documentation, communication, and field support . As your knowledge and confidence grow, you'll take on progressively greater responsibility for field operations and project management. The goal is to develop you into an Assistant Superintendent and ultimately a Superintendent. What You'll Learn to Do With training and support from experienced construction professionals, you will learn to: Coordinate daily field activities and project requirements Make sure field crews have the information, materials, equipment, and resources they need Communicate between field personnel, Project Managers, clients, and office staff Observe field operations and document project activity Prepare daily reports and other project documentation Assist with pre-task plans, safety documentation, toolbox talks, and PTAs Track materials, supplies, productivity, and project resources Help coordinate deliveries and equipment Monitor work for compliance with plans, specifications, and quality requirements Identify issues and help resolve them before they disrupt the project Support project safety and QA/QC procedures Collect and maintain accurate field data Prepare grout samples and required chains of custody Gradually assume greater responsibility for field and project operations You May Be a Great Fit If... You Won't Be Learning Alone This isn't a situation where you'll be handed a hard hat and expected to figure everything out. You'll work closely with experienced Superintendents, Project Managers, and office personnel who will help you learn the technical and operational side of the business. Depending on your previous experience, the development period may take approximately 12-18 months . As you demonstrate your capabilities, you'll take on increasingly complex responsibilities involving materials, field coordination, project management, client communication, and eventually supervision of field operations. The company has successfully developed Superintendents through this path before. Schedule & Travel This is a field-based, in-person position supporting construction projects throughout New England, particularly Southern New England. A typical construction day may run approximately 7:00 AM-3:30 PM , although additional hours are common depending on the project. Expect approximately 45-50 hours per week . Project locations change. You might spend a week supporting one project and several months at another. Depending on the project location, there may also be an hour or more of travel at the beginning or end of your day. You'll spend significant time outdoors, so you should be comfortable working in changing New England weather conditions. Compensation & Career Path Starting salary: $75,000-$95,000 , depending on education, experience, and transferable skills.
