Job Description

Job Summary The Companies of J.J. Young is seeking a Construction Project Scheduler for our client with offices in Ballston Spa, NY and Springfield, MA. The Construction Project Scheduler is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive project schedules. Reporting directly to the Director of Construction, the Scheduler provides vital support to Project Managers by assisting with scope definition, budget management, and cost control. This role focuses on optimizing project timelines through automated program management processes and rigorous critical path analysis to ensure all contract requirements are realized on time and within budget. Key Responsibilities - Schedule Development & Planning Collaborate with project teams to develop concise, detailed schedules for all new project awards. Design and develop project schedules by interacting with task managers to define the scope of work and identify variances from the original plan. Create and maintain task schedules, including critical deliverable milestones. Develop and update weekly short-interval schedules in coordination with Superintendents and Field Engineers to ensure site-level execution aligns with the master plan. - Analysis & Performance Tracking Perform critical path analysis (CPA) and Performance Measurement Tracking at appropriate levels and timeframes. Conduct continuous analysis of existing schedules to ensure workflow follows the established plan; identify and communicate potential delays or issues to Project Managers immediately. Analyze constraints to determine the effect of changes to the schedule and recommend effective work-around solutions. Support the project management team in maintaining timely change management processes and systems. - Reporting & Communication Provide regular schedule status updates and high-level reports to the President, Executive Vice President, and Construction Director. Interact with owners and project staff to schedule work, coordinate assignments, and support project plans. Identify and report on schedule inaccuracies and the status of critical activities. Attend all schedule-related meetings and collaborate with colleagues to prepare for future project needs. - Systems & Data Management Organize, implement, and maintain the scheduling management system using Primavera P6 . Log all new project information, timelines, and task statuses into the database to ensure contract coordination. Focus on developing and implementing automated program management processes to increase efficiency. Provide scheduled reports for contract coordination and reporting purposes.
Required Skills & Qualifications Technical Proficiency:
Advanced knowledge of Primavera P6 and Microsoft Office Suite .
Construction Expertise:
Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
Process Knowledge:
Strong understanding of construction management and engineering processes, including design flow, process mapping, and engineering data structures.
Financial Literacy:
Solid understanding of project costing and general management concepts.
Analytical Thinking:
Ability to perform complex critical path analysis and cost/schedule integration.
Communication:
Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with executives, owners, and field personnel.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's in Construction Management or related fields is ideal, along with 3+ years of relevant experience.
Federal Security Clearance:
High level security clearance is not required immediately, but the ability to achieve it is necessary for federal projects.
Pay:
Up to $110,000.00 per year
