Job Description

SURGERY SCHEDULER
Dependable and responsible surgery scheduler for busy two-surgeon practice. Must excel in customer service and be able to multitask while maintaining attention to detail. Also, must be self-motivated and work well independently. Must be organized and meticulous with a sharp eye for detail. Also, a tactful, professional attitude toward anxious patients is a must. This person must juggle several tasks at the same time, adapting easily to circumstances and changes in schedules.
Duties include:
  • Doing initial paperwork with surgery patients which includes: Consents, Prescriptions, Pre & Post Op Orders, Insurance Authorizations, etc.
  • Coordinating with the hospital/surgery center to schedule the cases.
  • Coordinating with Patient's primary care and or specialists for surgery clearance. This will include scheduling appointments for physicals, lab work, EKGs, etc.
  • Arranging the logistics of patient surgeries.
  • Direct contact with surgeons to go over details of each case and make sure every detail is taken care of.
  • Coordinating with patient and their family for post op appointments and follow up care.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients and medical staff throughout the entire process.
  • All throughout, surgery scheduler will communicate with patients and their families to ensure that they're well informed and prepared.
  • Miscellaneous clerical tasks such as finding out payment amounts, taking phone calls, and verifying patient records, rescheduling appointments and surgery dates, etc.
  • Must be adept at multitasking and processing paperwork efficiently and thoroughly. Attention to detail is a MUST.
  • Must maintain a polite, respectful attitude toward patients and their families all throughout.
  • Assistance with Front Desk and answering phones as needed and during down times.
Skills Needed:
Familiarity with scheduling software and electronic medical records. Organization skills
  • this position must keep track of various procedures and choose time slots that are agreeable to both patients and medical staff, they must be organized and detail oriented. They should also be comfortable with paperwork Knowledge of medical terminology
  • patients often look to surgery schedulers for basic guidance, so surgery schedulers must be familiar with medical terminology and the core steps of surgical procedures Communication skills
  • surgery schedulers must be excellent communicators who can give patients a clear idea of what to expect and how to prepare for a procedure. Aside from this, they must relay information correctly to medical staff and insurance companies Data entry
  • it's essential for surgery schedulers to be fast and accurate with data entry, as they must note down schedules and fill out forms and charts for all patients Empathy
  • surgery schedulers may deal with patients who are anxious, discouraged, or in emotional distress, so they must be empathetic and considerate when addressing inquiries and requests Detail Oriented Team Oriented

Full Time Monday thru Friday
