Yard Operations Specialist

Duties & Responsibilities:

The yard operations specialist is responsible for maintaining and coordinating the activities in the yard area, including movement of materials, equipment, and vehicles. The main goal is to ensure efficient and safe operations by keeping the yard clean, organized, and staging scheduled jobs for quick loading and departure from the shop. Some of the key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Yard Management
• Cleaning and organizing the yard, developing a system for efficiency, calling to have dumpsters emptied, etc.
• Inventory Management
• Unloading/checking in all material deliveries, confirming all materials are available for installation, assisting with inventory control and organization, ensuring proper placement of materials and equipment, calling for concrete deliveries, etc.
• Job Staging
• Pull materials for scheduled jobs; help crews with finding materials for their jobs. Running materials and/or tools to crews on the jobsite may also be required.
• Communication
• Report to operations manager, communicate with crew about materials for jobs, and communicate with the office when necessary to ensure smooth operations.
• Maintenance
• Small engine repairs, if mechanically inclined, and scheduling maintenance on vehicles. Also, general maintenance around the shop may be required.
• Equipment Operation
• Operating equipment such as a forklift to load and unload materials.
• Safety and Compliance
• Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.

Schedule & Pay:

The yard operations specialist will work Monday through Friday, from 7 am to 4 pm with a one-hour lunch break. Pay will be based on experience with fence knowledge and capabilities. The yard operations specialist will report to the operations manager.
