Job Description

Our Phone Operators/Schedulers operate our call center in a prompt, polite and professional manner. Provides routine information, directs calls to appropriate area or person, and schedules patient appointments in an efficient, timely, and accurate manner according to established practices. Work is performed in an office environment utilizing standard office equipment and may be stressful at times with pressure related to multiple calls and inquiries of a diverse nature.
Essential Functions:
Secure patient information in accordance with HIPAA requirements Channels all incoming calls and routes calls to appropriate area or person Responds to emergency and urgent calls according to established procedures Communicates general center information Organizes and efficiently handles work station resource material Schedules and reschedules patient appointments according to established procedures Obtains or verifies demographic information and updates information in computer Takes messages from patients and others. Uses established procedures to determine routing of message and determination of urgency Answers questions regarding patient appointment process or routes question to appropriate person Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type or record patient information Able to answer the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner
Ability to speak clearly and concisely Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction Ability to work under stressful situations with high concentration, energy, accuracy, and attention to detail Use active listening skills Ability to handle a "call center" environment; work quickly and multi-task Exercise good judgment to handle calls appropriately Demonstrate good customer/patient service Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information Computer experience Knowledge of Medical Terminology Flexibility Education, Certifications, Experience and Qualifications Required Education High school Diploma or GED equivalent Preferred Knowledge Orthopaedic practice and related patient care One year of experience in a related clinical environment Working knowledge of medical terminology
