Job Description
The Oncology Scheduling Specialist welcomes patients to our organization in a courteous, friendly, and helpful manner. They will exhibit proficient and professional communication skills with patients, families, co-workers, and physicians. Exhibits comprehensive knowledge of resources within the clinic and community to provide optimum care to patients and their families. Responsible for provider scheduling, infusion appointments, inpatient and outpatient appointments (including but not limited to chemotherapy treatments, other infusions), internal & external referrals, assisting with prior authorization, precertification, and referral processes to ensure maximum benefit coverage. Provides basic patient education on scheduled procedures. Will also assist with Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology scheduling, and other duties as assigned. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Provides courteous, professional service to patients in person and by phone, ensuring patient needs are addressed throughout their visit. Schedules, reschedules, and coordinates appointments and procedures for multiple providers and Cancer Center service lines. Collects and verifies patient, insurance, and treatment information to support accurate scheduling and care coordination. Maintains provider and infusion schedules, communicating updates and changes as directed by providers, coordinators, or management. Ensures operational efficiency and compliance by maintaining scheduling equipment and adhering to HIPAA privacy and security regulations. This position is intended to provide flexible, cross-trained administrative support across key scheduling functions within the Cancer Center, helping ensuring continuity of patient access and smooth daily operations. Hours/Shifts Casual (less than 32 hours biweekly) with day shifts
