Job Overview Full-Time | •1099 Contractors ONLY•Senior Capital Projects Manager / Primavera P6 Scheduler Full-Time | 1099 Contractor Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior Capital Projects Manager / Primavera P6 Scheduler to lead the planning, scheduling, execution, and successful delivery of complex industrial capital projects within a manufacturing environment. This role is a key member of the Capital Projects organization and is responsible for coordinating project activities from concept through commissioning and closeout. The successful candidate will partner closely with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Procurement, Construction, Finance, and external contractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. The ideal candidate has extensive experience managing industrial capital projects, developing and maintaining project schedules, coordinating cross-functional teams, managing budgets and forecasts, and providing executive-level reporting. Experience with Primavera P6 is highly preferred, along with a strong understanding of capital project execution in manufacturing, metals, mining, chemical processing, utilities, energy, or other heavy industrial environments. Key ResponsibilitiesCapital Project Management Lead industrial capital projects from planning through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, startup, and project closeout. Develop project execution plans and coordinate project activities across engineering, operations, maintenance, procurement, contractors, and vendors. Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining alignment with business priorities and capital investment strategies. Identify project risks, develop mitigation plans, and proactively resolve issues impacting scope, schedule, or budget. Ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and capital governance processes. Project Scheduling & Forecasting Develop and maintain integrated project schedules using Primavera P6 (preferred) or Microsoft Project. Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup activities within project schedules. Monitor project progress, update schedules, analyze schedule variances, and recommend recovery plans when necessary. Support project budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and cost tracking throughout the project lifecycle. Evaluate impacts of scope changes, procurement delays, contractor performance, and resource constraints on project schedules and overall project performance. Reporting & Project Performance Prepare executive project status reports, dashboards, and presentations. Develop and maintain KPIs using Excel, Power BI, and other reporting tools. Present project updates including schedule performance, budget status, project risks, and mitigation plans to leadership. Support monthly capital project reviews and portfolio reporting activities. Maintain project documentation, scheduling standards, and reporting consistency across all assigned projects. Continuous Improvement Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project planning, scheduling, reporting, and execution. Assist in developing standardized project management processes, templates, and reporting tools. Mentor project team members and promote best practices in project execution and scheduling. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or a related discipline (or equivalent industrial experience). Minimum 7 years of experience managing industrial capital projects. Experience delivering capital projects within manufacturing, metals, mining, chemical processing, utilities, energy, or other industrial environments. Experience developing and maintaining project schedules using Primavera P6 , Microsoft Project, or similar enterprise scheduling software. Experience managing project budgets, forecasts, contractor coordination, and project reporting. Strong understanding of engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project execution processes. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office. Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills. Preferred Qualifications Advanced Primavera P6 experience Power BI reporting and dashboard development Project Management Professional (PMP) Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP) Certified Cost Professional (CCP) Experience supporting capital projects valued at $10M-$200M+ Experience managing multiple concurrent capital projects across a manufacturing portfolio What Success Looks Like Capital projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within approved budgets. Project schedules are accurate, current, and provide clear visibility into milestones, risks, and recovery opportunities. Leadership receives timely, actionable project updates that support informed decision-making. Project risks are identified early and managed proactively. Strong collaboration exists between Engineering, Operations, Procurement, Finance, Construction, and project stakeholders. Project management and scheduling processes continue to mature, driving operational excellence across the Capital Projects organization.
