Environmental Laboratories is an accredited environmental testing laboratory based in Union, NJ. We analyze asbestos, mold, lead, water, and air quality samples for property managers, environmental consultants, contractors, schools, hospitals, and public agencies across New Jersey and New York. Our clients call us when they have a problem that has to be answered accurately and fast — and the person who answers that call sets the tone for the entire job. That person is who we are hiring. The Role You are the first voice a client hears and the last person who makes sure the job actually got done right. You will own the path from "I think I have mold", "I think I have asbestos" to a scheduled inspection, a signed proposal, and a clean chain of custody arriving at our lab bench. What You'll Do Client intake and inquiry handling Answer inbound calls and email inquiries for asbestos, mold, lead, and water analysis Qualify the request: what's the property, why are they testing, who is requiring it, what's the deadline Explain our services and turnaround options in plain language to clients who are not scientists Respond to every inquiry

— no lead goes cold on your watch Proposals and quoting Send pre-written proposals and quotes from our service and pricing schedule Confirm scope in writing before work begins: sample counts, analysis method, turnaround tier, and what is excluded Follow up on outstanding proposals until you get a yes or a no Track quoted vs. booked work and report on it Field coordination and dispatch Schedule field inspections and coordinate site access with clients Dispatch field inspectors, build daily routes, and adjust when a job runs long or a site cancels Serve as the live point of contact for inspectors during the field day Confirm every scheduled job is either completed, rescheduled, or documented as cancelled Documentation and job closeout Review incoming chain-of-custody (COC) submissions for completeness before they reach the lab Flag discrepancies between the proposal, the field work performed, and the COC Coordinate with lab staff on turnaround commitments and communicate delays to clients proactively Keep client records, job files, and the scheduling system current What We're Looking For Required 2+ years handling inbound customer calls in a service business where you quoted or scoped the work — restoration, abatement, home inspection, pest and IAQ, HVAC or plumbing service, medical or dental scheduling, commercial services inside sales, or similar Clear, confident written English — you will be writing proposals clients decide on Demonstrated ability to juggle a ringing phone, a schedule that changes hourly, and a proposal that's due, without dropping any of the three Comfort with Microsoft Office / Google Workspace and learning a lab information management system Reliable and on-site — this role cannot be done remotely Valid driver's license Preferred, not required Any exposure to environmental, construction, restoration, or laboratory services Familiarity with chain-of-custody documentation What we will train We do not expect you to arrive knowing the difference between PLM and TEM analysis, or how many samples an AHERA survey requires. We will teach you the technical side — our methods, our accreditations, and how to scope a job correctly. What we cannot teach is how to handle a client on the phone. Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM, on-site in Union, NJ. Growth Path This is a build-your-own-seat role in a growing lab. As you learn the technical side, the natural progression is into account management for our repeat institutional clients, or into field operations supervision. We would rather promote you than replace you.
